A kindred soul recently commented on my blog, noting that I was not a ’slave to modern’ — and she got it exactly right! In the postwar era, the iconic home was in fact a Cape Cod — not a ranch. In reality, homes were a mix and match — both inside and out — of Cape, Colonial, ranch, split level, and yes more space age modern.
As a result, dining sets like this one are perfect for many middle class mid century homes. I adore this set. The colors. The lines. The stenciling. The caning. And — the quality! Also, the size/scale is likely to be very good for a postwar home’s dining room - which most certainly will have smaller proportions than homes built today. A beautiful dining set!
