Another accordian-accessorized interior — from Brian at Atomic Addiction. Now I am really hooked and want to find more more more for our collection! Here’s what Brian says:
I remember seeing this picture awhile ago. Funny how this sort of thing sticks in your mind. I guess its because if someone whipped out an accordian at a party now it would be real WEIRD. ![]()
It is in the Mechanix Illustrated How-to-do-it Encyclopedia Vol 2. -1961.
Enjoy..

Thanks, Brian! And notice, everyone, how the magazine turned a basement pipe – into a palm tree. Sweet.

Hey Pam… That’s Atomic ADDICTION not Atomic Addition.
Just thought I would mess with ya a little bit.

Too funny! I will keep an eye out for them.
I agree that it would be really odd for someone to whip out an accordion at a party today. But also, there isn’t a lot of dancing at the parties I go to…actually NO dancing at all.
Brian – oops! Of course it’s ‘Addiction’, not ‘addition.’ Although one leads to another – in terms of our collections at least. Sorry for the error, it’s been a long week…
Well, I have some weird friends, and because one of them sometimes plays in a local band called “Bloomington Squeeze,” she has on occasion whipped out her accordian at parties. But we generally don’t dance to it. Then again, we also sit around the piano singing show tunes from time to time.
I’ve been a big fan of the group “Those Darn Accordians” for a long time, and have sported two of their bumper stickers on my car:

It sure looks like Haywood Wakefield Rattan furniture they’re sitting on. Cool. Or maybe because its a tropical theme I should use the modern term, That’s Hot.
Back in the 60s my family would visit some relatives in central Ohio, and at some point during the visit, one of the teen-aged daughters would be called upon to play her accordian. She had blonde hair in a little flip ‘do, and to me she was as cool as Patty Duke or Hayley Mills!
