Classic green 50s bathroom fixtures - from Sara in B.C. - today’s online pick

50s bathroom

I’m away all week on business, and it’s turning out to be very full days, so my ability to watch ebay looks like it will be stressed. So — I’m very thankful for reader Superstar Sara for sending this item from the Victoria, British Columbia, classified. A beautiful, classic green wallmount sink with chrome legs, and a matching WC. Thanks, Superstar Sara!

If any other readers would like to send me ebay suggestions this week in particular, please do! Send to me at pam@retrorenovation.com

We have a 1980s-style sink in a bulky white cabinet in our full bath, similar to what Sebastien currently has in his bathroom. Because the sink works OK, and gives the only storage space in the room, we haven’t considered replacing it. But we gripe that it’s just too large for the small room.

I now see that these retro sinks give the impression of more space. And the colors of these fixtures! Something like this really could jazz up our boring bathroom, which has none of the cool features of our pink tile half bath.

Our full bath has no medicine cabinet — previous owner probably didn’t see a need for one after putting in the bulky vanity! I found a lovely one, similar in shape to the one over the green toilet in Sara’s picture. Well, of course, this medicine cabinet just will look so dinky over our big old bulky sink. So, the message obviously is to have a lovely retro sink to go with the lovely retro mirror.

I’m glad you keep running posts on the same topics again and again, so that I can finally get the message of all the elements that can come together to really look just right in my 50s house.
