Old House Interiors February 2008 issue

Old House Interiors February 2008 issueOld House Interiors February 2008 issueRegular readers might be interested in the February edition of Old House Interiors magazine, which includes a feature on our kitchen, along with an “Inspired By” piece that I got to byline, at the back. Yes, that’s me in my vintage dress that matches the kitchen :) This was incredible fun, with all my thanks and appreciation to writer Gladys Montgomery, photographer Kit Latham and editor Pattie Poore. I have subscribed to Old House Interiors for about 14 years, and I am so pleased that they are covering more and more postwar homes!

Wow Pam, how exciting! Your kitchen is becoming quite a star! I bet it makes you feel really good after you put so much hard work into it to have it appreciated by so many. And you look super cute in your fab vintage dress! ;)

Excellent! Isn’t it fun and satisfying to work with others who enjoy what they do well? When our home was photographed for the book “New Classic Style” by Better Homes and Gardens (Meredith Publ.), I was so impressed with the staff, I offered to help on other projects, should they need me. (Believe me, I don’t have a lot of “project” time, so this was a serious proclamation on my part!) Anyone who has a chance to work with that team should grab it.

How was the overall experience for you? Did you learn things? Would you do anything differently next time? Etc.

Hey Pam, It’s Tarky7 using the wrong login, ooops !

Just wanted to thank you for putting up these pics from Old House Interiors, where we first met ! This is the first time I have seen the layout and they did a smashingly good job !

    *blush*

So glad we did meet and that your new site has turned into such a “retro-rockin’ good time !” Your site RetroRenovation (great name, by the way) is turning into the defacto go-to spot on redoing the house and kitchen in authentic style ! YAY ! Go team.

    Best

Pam, what a great article, and I have to chime in with the others that you look so cute in your housedress! I can just see you starting to whip up a cake in your kitchen (wearing a lovely apron, of course, to protect your vintage dress).

You know, you COULD have gone the other way — lounging in your negligee with a cigarette hanging from your lip, drinking your third glass of wine with breakfast…then going outside with your shotgun to pick off the neighbor’s prize pigeons, a la Betty in Mad Men. (hee)

    Hi Pam,

We have been making big strides in selecting the countertop, paint colors, and faucet. I’m waiting on wallpaper swatches from Bradbury and Bradbury this week.

Where did you find your pendant light for your kitchen?

I have been looking on ebay almost every day for something similar in size and shape.

Thanks again for posting the article on snap on edging.

    Hi Tiel,

I’m glad your project is coming along and am eager to see how the kitchen all comes together.

I found my retractable lighting fixture on ebay. I’ve seen some nice others since …. You are just going to have to wait it out, dearie. Don’t worry, though. Now that you’ve put your retrovibes out there - the decorating gods will deliver!
