50s 60s motel - coin activated alarm clock - today’s ebay pick

coin activated alarm clock from a 50s 60s motel

How very cool, an alarm clock that requires 10 cents to activate. From a 50s 60s hotel motel, clearly.

Hey, didn’t there used to be a ‘cents’ key on the typewriter keyboard? I don’t see it now on my PC keyboard. What replaced it? The “@”? Or, am I imagining this?

    Hi,

Yep, there WAS a “cent” sign on the keyboard (there still IS on my old Smith Corona “Clipper” manual), and its disappearance has always irritated me. I have an Art Deco cash register in my shop as well… and yes, the “cent” symbol is there. Funny thing: The highest priced sale that can be rung up on this beauty is $3.99 ! Isn’t that great?

    Hi Pam!
Being an ebay seller with retro goodies originally priced in cents not dollars ..
I too was frustrated by the disappearance of the “cents” key …
by chance I found if you want to include the cents symbol and others into your typing via a PC - it can be done like this:
pull up the start menu -
    select
    programs -
    select
    accessories -
    select
    system tools -
    select
    character map -

    pull down your desired font
find, select and copy the symbol of choice
    paste into your document !

    xox,
