Update on the blog

A few new things about the blog –

  1. Several weeks ago I inadvertently disabled the registration required to Comment. My guru advises me to have this feature, to combat spam and more. So thanks in advance to everyone for taking this little step - it really helps me out in a number of ways.
  2. Regarding readership, regular readers might be interested to know that for the month of February, the site had some 9,900 unique visitors. For this month, it is trending to hit 14,000 unique visitors. That’s indicative of the rate of growth since I started on Oct. 16 — at zero! I don’t have a target number of readers in mind — I’m happy at the growing community and the fun that we are all having talking about our little jewel box homes and the satisfaction in maintaining their unique style.
  3. I spent some time Saturday cleaning up the Postwar Steel Forum — the cabinet forum along the top navigation bar. I moved the “All about…(steel kitchen cabinets)” sections to the bottom - so that the top of the page could get right to the buying and selling. I am thrilled, btw, that there are now 55 distinct brands of metal kitchen cabinets identified. Over the next several months, I need to start stocking the “All about….” sections with photos of each variety. Special thanks to Puddletown for being on the lookout for cabinets postings for us to point to the site!
  4. I also added a new section to the Forum for readers to buy and sell “all other” kinds of stuff. I am getting a growing number of inquiries about other cool vintage stuff for sale - so will point sellers there. We’ll see. I don’t want junk! I am requiring true vintage items only, and every post MUST have photos or else I will delete it. I’ve invited YogiMD in Miami FLA to make the first post. While he loves most everything in his new/vintage 1959 home, the wood kitchen cabinets that he says will have to go. Unless we can talk him out of it, here’s what they look likevintage wood kitchen cabinets:

Congratulations, Pam, for the success of your blog. I had no idea when I started looking at it last November or December that it was so new — it is so top notch.

I’m sure YogiMD will find someone who loves his cabinets. We have spent the last three months searching for more maple cabinets to match the ones we found last December, so we can complete our kitchen. We finally found three more pieces that are a different brand, but look practically identical, so we have been installing them this weekend. (Unfortunately, we had to abandon plans to use the gold-speckled Formica, the dimensions just weren’t right. So, for the time being, we have some very serviceable but bland beige Formica. Maybe something cool will turn up here on your blog!)
