I am SO obsessed with steel kitchen cabinets. Where in the world did I get that, it is so weird. I also am fascinated with anything vintage from Sears & Roebuck and these cabinets in Minnesota are very snappy indeed.

Sears Country Kitchen stove – today’s ebay pick
These are amazing.
I just moved into a house that has these (renting – my brother wanted to jump on the real estate bandwagon a couple of years ago and the market took a dive shortly after; the house has been vacant since). Mine still have little metal tags inside that say “FOR REPLACEMENT PARTS OR WARRANTY INFORMATION CONTACT MONTGOMERY WARD.” I was told I can replace them if I want… I was like “Are you crazy?? These are incredible!”
I have these cabinets and one of the hinges broke. Anyone know how or where I might find a replacement?
Rob, we have an FAQ on this.
These pictures are interesting… I have a set in a house I’m renting that look very similar, even still has the model number from sears – the downside is it appears that smokers rented the place before and now it is all yellowed. It is very slow in cleaning by hand… May try the high speed polisher I use on automotive finishes – the baked on enamel looks thicker than a few automotive ones I’ve done
Welcome, CM. Be aware: Old paint can have lead in it. Consult with a professional – be sure you are using proper safety and environmental precautions.
Definately aware of that. I only use the best from the automotive refinishing industry – who really knows what are on those cars…. I’ve got the full on respirators and everything.
Great reminder for others too
gold star for you!
