Palm Springs Stephan makes today’s fabulous ebay contribution. Thank you, PSS! What an AMAZING refrigerator. Check out the interior, even! The range is for sale, too, separately. Stephan writes:
My eBay pick for the day, a refrigerator that would look fantastic in your kitchen! And it’s one of those funky cabinet-like models very similar to some that were featured in your recent series on ads for pink kitchens. I wish they still made refrigerators in this design.

That stove would be perfect for my kitchen. I am so sad it is too far away.
Mom must have been a swinging gal!
We have an GE Americana refrigerator like the one in the picture. It a brown color and in relatively good shape. It is in need of gaskets and restoration. It still works real good. We bought it in 1974 to use in our home. We were told long ago by a GE repair man it was manufactured in 1963.
I was wondering where we could get new gaskets and an approximate value.
Thanks
Mike
Hi Mike, I recommend that you contact the folks at antiqueappliances.com to help with all these questions. Good luck, Pam
Hello Mike,
You can get all kinds of parts for this range at Repairparts.com. I have bought from them for my identical model, though it is reaching the end of it’s time with wires getting very brottle and me not a good enough electrician to risk replacing them. Hope you find what you need.

The guys at Antique Appliances are FANTASTIC! They are super-friendly, extremely knowledgeable and can answer just about any question you have about vintage stoves and frigs. My pink ’52 stove and white ’51 frig are scheduled to make an appearance at their shop this May for an all-out refurbishing. They’re going to paint the frig to match the stove by colormatching the oven door. Mind you, this is an extremely expensive process but I just experienced a milestone birthday, so happy birthday to ME!
Oh, they also do appraisals…for a small fee, though.
I have a copper/brown stove just like yours that belonged to my parents. I love it even though the “burner with the brain” does not work. Could you tell me where I could purchase a new burner and approximately what the stove is worth (although I wouldn’t part with it).
Thanks.
Hi Caryl and welcome. Honestly, I don’t know much about this issue. I generally refer people to talk to the folks at AntiqueAppliances.com. Good luck.
Hi, I just found the article about the vintage GE fridge above. Our friend has the same one. She wants to keep it but it needs some repair. It is very sentimental to her. Was this fridge on Ebay? and if so do you know what it was listed or sold for? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!
Hello, we purchased a house and it has a range and refridgerator that is exactly like the ones pictured here, except in white. We are still using these! We would just like to know when they were made? Can you help.
Thanks
Rita Howard
Hi Rita, I tend to think that on these old fridges, the date is usually on the back somewhere. I am not an expert able to identify vintage appliances by year by site. And if I ever have the time to study up: It’ll be toilets. Oh the Criterion!
I have just launched a Facebook page for antique refrigerators. Check it out. Just do a search for Servel Refrigerator and join. Also, I’m looking for 1950′s fridges. Please contact me with your information.
I have the exact turquoise oven in the mother in law suite of the house I just bought. It still works and I’m not sure what to do with it. I’ll check with the Appliance guys you all referred to. Thanks so much
I have a General Electric Americana range with upper and lower ovens. I love it but thermostats for both ovens are broken and the temperature very difficult to control. Are there still parts and reliable repairmen to fix this? I would rather keep this than buy a new one.
ALSO, mine is BROWN, can they be painted? Thanks, FS
I’ve been using my General Electric Americana for the past 5 years. It has the upper and lower ovens and I love it.
Thanks to General Electric, you can contact their parts department and still obtain parts for this range and oven. However, they are pricey.
My Sensi-temp needs replacing and also the lower oven thermostat. However, the lower oven’s rotissere still works like a charm.
Hi. I just realized I have a 1955 PINK GE stove. Is it worth anything? Looks like its in EUC ………
thanks
