I have a General Electric Americana range with upper and lower ovens. I love it but thermostats for both ovens are broken and the temperature very difficult to control. Are there still parts and reliable repairmen to fix this? I would rather keep this than buy a new one.
ALSO, mine is BROWN, can they be painted? Thanks, FS

I have the exact turquoise oven in the mother in law suite of the house I just bought. It still works and I'm not sure what to do with it. I'll check with the Appliance guys you all referred to. Thanks so much

I have just launched a Facebook page for antique refrigerators. Check it out. Just do a search for Servel Refrigerator and join. Also, I'm looking for 1950's fridges. Please contact me with your information.

Hi Rita, I tend to think that on these old fridges, the date is usually on the back somewhere. I am not an expert able to identify vintage appliances by year by site. And if I ever have the time to study up: It'll be toilets. Oh the Criterion!

Hello, we purchased a house and it has a range and refridgerator that is exactly like the ones pictured here, except in white. We are still using these! We would just like to know when they were made? Can you help.

Thanks

Hi, I just found the article about the vintage GE fridge above. Our friend has the same one. She wants to keep it but it needs some repair. It is very sentimental to her. Was this fridge on Ebay? and if so do you know what it was listed or sold for? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you!

Hi Caryl and welcome. Honestly, I don't know much about this issue. I generally refer people to talk to the folks at AntiqueAppliances.com. Good luck.

I have a copper/brown stove just like yours that belonged to my parents. I love it even though the "burner with the brain" does not work. Could you tell me where I could purchase a new burner and approximately what the stove is worth (although I wouldn't part with it).

Thanks.

The guys at Antique Appliances are FANTASTIC! They are super-friendly, extremely knowledgeable and can answer just about any question you have about vintage stoves and frigs. My pink '52 stove and white '51 frig are scheduled to make an appearance at their shop this May for an all-out refurbishing. They're going to paint the frig to match the stove by colormatching the oven door. Mind you, this is an extremely expensive process but I just experienced a milestone birthday, so happy birthday to ME!

Oh, they also do appraisals...for a small fee, though.
