Hi Alida, the hotlink to the story is in the post. Click right where it says 'today's NYT'- it's kind of in green and dash underlined. Welcome to the RetroRenovation clan!

Hi:

I just found your site yesterday and I am already addicted. I have always loved the metal cabinets from the 30's to 50's but finding them was not easy. When I renovated my prewar 1930's New York apartment I wanted desperately to do a retro kitchen to go with my art deco furnishings. I didn't have the time nor the energy to really research the kitchen cabinets and finally ended up spending a fortune on a gorgeous St. Charles kitchen. I am currently looking for another apartment in Manhattan and want to definitely find the cabinets I have always wanted.

You posted on this page an article in the NYT I believe April 11, 2008 on Geneva steel cabinets. I went onto the NYT website but couldn't find the article. I am hoping you may have a copy and can perhaps post it on your site or send me a copy.

Now that I have the time to do my research on the cabinets and retro appliances I will be on your site quite often.

Thank you for any help you can give me.

Yes, Kimberly -- I agree that yellow cabinets with a red floor makes for a great color combination. If Alice is switching out the wallpaper, that's another great recommendation.

I like the red floor and vintage chair with the yellow steel cabinets and stainless appliances. It's quite a nice mix that works well to update the look without losing it's vintage feel entirely.

The New York times article is a great find (and boost!) Pam! Also, wow, what a great selection of ideas you have provided...I had not anticipated such thorough thought. I'll keep you posted on how I proceed.
