You know, I'm not sure about the wallpaper. I love orange, but that paper seems too strong for the rest of the kitchen. I would leave it up for a while and wait to see how you feel about it. Heck, if you're anything like my husband and I, five or ten years will pass by and you'll say, "Hmmm, weren't we going to get new wallpaper sometime?" By then, you might be glad you never changed it.

I'm not so sure I'd take off the yellow formica backsplash though. I like it.

I would also suggest searching for an antique or vintage farmhouse sink on eBay. We got one for our old house (believe me, I never would have moved if we weren't going out of state) and it cost us only $78, and it was amazing. It was my favorite purchase ever. SOMEDAY I'll get one again for our new vintage kitchen! : )

I bet redoing the backsplash with glass block tile would be gorgeous too. Something maybe like this if you want to stay bright.

There are lots of other options if you want to keep the color scheme toned down.

May I say something about the countertop/backsplash? My 1957 St. Charles kitchen (we kept the cabinets and changed just about everything else --- it's not true vintage, let's just say eclectic) came with formica countertops with the backsplash all the way up to the cabinets. When we replaced the countertops (with more formica) we did the same. IT IS JUST SO EASY TO KEEP CLEAN vs. a shorter backsplash and painted walls. (Our window over the sink does come down quite low, and that may break up the homogeneity of the backsplash look somewhat.) Also, our countertops are yellow and our cabinets are blue, so that also breaks up the monotony.

We put in an Elkay Lustertone D-shaped sink like the one in the photo (no drainers, tho). The D-shape gives you so much more sink in the same amount of space, it feels like having two sinks in the space of one.
