Palm Springs Stephan recommends this Heywood Wakefield merchant — today’s ebay pick

Palm Springs Stephan
provides our ebay pick of the day. Table and chairs listed separately:
I saw this on eBay today while searching for Heywood Wakefield desks and nightstands. The seller — JWB213 — is a very active HW dealer. I have bought several pieces from him. He is EXCELLENT to deal with! Packs everything superbly so that it arrives undamaged.
Anyway, this set is super-cool! I love the period upholstery on the chairs. It would look great in someone’s large kitchen or informal dining room. My kitchen is too small for the HW dining room suite that I already have … and I do not have a separate dining room … otherwise I’d buy it myself!
The only thing I would add is - to anyone thinking about reupholstering vintage 40s 50s or 60s dining chairs - note how great the two-toned treatment is. This would be so easy to mimic, and really adds pizazz to the lines of these styles of chairs. Thanks, PSS!

I haven’t bought anything from him yet, but I check out this seller every week. I was just admiring this set earlier today! I really like the green chairs with the complimentary fabrics. Unfortunately, I’m waiting for the big score on a certain Heywood Wakefield dining set. I’m cheap and want to get it for the right price. I got two Encore dressers–the tall Mr and the low double Mrs with mirror, plus an Encore tambour buffet with a perfect glassed display case top, all for $600 earlier this year from Craigslist. Very nice man clearing out his parents’ retirement house sold it to us. He knew he could sell to a dealer–in fact, he had sold his parents other pieces (including a dining set!) to a dealer a year before–and get a lot more money, but he decided he wanted to sell to people who would love and use the furniture. Nice, regular people, not rich Brooklyn hedge-fund types. That’s us, and I do love my HW. They’re in fabulous condition, and I think about the young couple who bought them new and the woman who kept such good care of them at times.

Adorable dining set! My parents use to have a similar suite when I was growing up but it was shades of grey - comfy as though and easy to clean too :-)
