Plug-in clock outlet MIB - today’s ebay pick

When I’m estate-sale-ing in nearby Pittsfield and they’re selling the kitchen clocks right off the wall, I always see these recessed plugs installed right behind the clocks. In the 50s it seems, they planned for the plug-in kitchen clock by siting this recessed outlet right where it would go. Look closely, the cover even has a little built-in hook, how cool is that!

If you are planning or in the midst of a kitchen re-model and will have your electrical opened up - snap this up and get ready for your own kitchen clock installation. This is another item from our new ebay seller/friend Chris who runs hardtofindhouseparts out of his home in Portland, Oregon - that mid century mecca! His stuff is great - keep an eye on it!

Can you still get these in a hardware store? I never thought about needing one before.

I was complaining that my vintage clock has a short cord and plug and my dad was just telling me that people used to put outlets right behind them!!!

Yup, Monica, these are they! And Emily - I don’t think anyone makes these anymore, you must find them NOS like this one.
