GinaUSA sends us today’s online pick – her lovely specimen of a vintage1952 Crosley fridge in metro Detroit:
Dear Pam, I have a 1952 ranch home that was exactly as it was the day it was built. I purchased it 8 years ago and have been making some renovations but some things are still the same. There was a vintage Kelvinator fridge in the basement that the people who built the house left for us. After we moved in and started renovating, we found out why it was left here. It runs great, looks good and has all the old style ice tray, egg basket, glass fruit bins… but, the owner of the home must have installed this fridge in the basement and then built the bar. The bar was built a little too long and would not allow the fridge to pass so it’s been downstairs for around 50 years. When we had a leak in a pipe and had the basement re tiled, they dismantled the bar and while that was open we had them haul the fridge upstairs.
It works great, keeps everything ice cold and the lit
tle freezer holds a decent size turkey. I hate to let it go to just anyone because I love that retro look. I would like to see this go to someone who is creating a whole retro kitchen. With a little TLC, this fridge will be as good as new. I used it for 8 years but had to buy a bigger freezer for the basement and can’t afford to run 3 fridges. If there is anyone out there that would like to purchase this fridge, I have it for sale on Craig’s List for BEST OFFER. I know they go between $100. and on up to $3000. fully restored. I’m in the Detroit Metro area. I love your web site! I will include some pics of the fridge and my 50’s kitchen and bath. Thank you for your time, Gina
Thank you, Gina! Let us know how it turns out. And readers, stay tuned for some great photos of Gina’s 1952 ranch. You’re gonna LOVE the bathroom!

Hi everyone. The fridge is long gone. I wanted to sell it to someone who was creating a fun retro kitchen but we sold it to some guy who was going to turn it into a beer keg fridge. At least it’s going to be loved and used!
Hey, Friday at 3:17 p.m. a beer keg sounds kind of wonderful! Thanks for the update, Gina!
You could of sold it to me!
