Kitchens – Countertops

I have been working on retro laminates lately – and originally thought there were only these big five: Wilsonart, Formica, Pionite, Nevamar and Arborite. But – I’ve now discovered a 6th company – Arpa USA. They have a terrific-looking portfolio — of solids, in particular. Some of the greens come darn close to that famous [...]

Arborite has two new laminates in their 2011-2012 collection that just popped onto my radar. I haven’t seen these as actual samples yet — I’ll order them this week. Cracked ice laminate seems to have been a very popular choice for vintage dinette table tops, and I hear from readers fairly often asking where they can find it for kitchen counters. Crackle ice laminate is still available from a number of sources online. Like the other special-order boomerang laminates available, these crackle ice laminates [...]

Do you think Chair-ey from PeeWee’s Playhouse and this sofa could be friends?
I am looking for a couch simular to the one in your picture and the one featured here: http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/dc/small-cool-2009/small-cool-2009-casey-maries-all-in-one-room-tiny-division-49-082135 Any idea on what this couch is called?
cangelobe, these sofas are all vintage. They were made by companies like Kroehler…. you have to work to find them – craiglist, ebay maybe, estate sales, thrift shops.
