I stumbled into a story about staying in old, converted railway cars while on vacation in the U.K. This company in Cornwall has three different conversions for rent, including this old luggage van. To heck with the canned ham trailers. I want a rail car!

I have been on a tear, of late, researching laminates. Considering how Greige and Granite-y 99% of what’s out there is, I want to provide Retro Renovators with the broadest researched selection possible of designs that have a more historical, retro appeal. After I learned that Formica’s butcher block laminate has been in production since [...]

I just got off the phone with George from New York Metals – purveyors of the stainless steel edging to true to 40s 50s and 60s kitchen countertops. The recent question on the table has been: How to bend my preferred “Snap-On Molding” (in photo above) for rounded edges – be they quarter-round cubbies or [...]

These are sure a blast from the past: Glass combination trivets and cutting boards that are installed directly into your kitchen countertop. Yes: with metal rim aka Hudee ring. There is a place in the US that has train cars set up as separate “hotel” accomodations – it’s a south eastern state, don’t remember which one…….
It’s the Red Caboose Motel in Strasburg PA:
