What a very interesting item on ebay right now. I want it bad – but I must stop buying, and besides: It’s coffee coffee coffee for me!
Perhaps our U.K. readers can tell us about their memories of this item? Clare? Fiona? The listing says:
Teasmade. Early English automation. A “must have” for the 1940’s and 50’s suburban family. This appliance combines a clock, alarm, bedside lamp, kettle and teapot. As the alarm buzzes, the boiling water flows into the teapot and brews the tea ready for your early morning tea at bedside. Good working condition, wired for 110v, 60cycles.

They were still popular into the seventies and early eighties (my parents had one – think it was a wedding present). Believe they’re having a bit of an (ironic) revival at the moment.
