Stiffel lamps were extremely popular in the 50s and 60s – they are well made, and generally traditional, which as we know was the #1 choice for homemakers during the period.

I have a pair from my mother-in-law, which have a colonial feel and are quite lovely. These lamps can be had for a song. I like this one – because it has the original greco-roman-italianate (?) shade, which I have never seen before. Very cool.

The other thing about these lamps are that they are, as I said, well made. The bases are quite heavy. If you ever have an intruder – you can grab one and knock him over the head with it.
