Bronwyn, Great name. I am of Welsh descent, but grew up in So. Cal.
I grew up in the 50-60′s. I would recommend keeping the diamond laid backsplash if possible. I’d go for an aqua/white/black color scheme, keeping the wood cabinets. The bold coral is the jarring note in the color scheme.
