Kitchens – Countertops

How is this one, Retro Renovation readers? I recently scored a full box of est. 1960-65 era GE Textolite laminate samples, absolute mint condition unused. This is the first bunch — the others aren’t so over-the-top FABULOUS, but still are great gauges of what to look for. OMG. What else do I need to say. [...]

Several readers have asked me how to install the stainless steel countertop edging from New York Metals. In this post, I’ll take you step-by-step through the process that we used to install the metal edging in my kitchen. I had my countertops laminated by an outfit recommended by by contractor. They made all the countertops [...]

Reader Sarah successfully removed a layer of more modern laminate from her yummy gold-speckled mid-century laminate beneath. She wrote about her experience — and the products she used — on her blog, Sarahs’ Blue Castle. But before you jump over there, take a look at her note to me and my comments here first –> [...]

Vintage Nutone exhaust fan & more mint-in-box madness
Vintage Trade-Wind kitchen range-top exhaust hood

I have a NuTone exhaust fan in my kitchen, it’s of this same vintage. Those old exhaust fans work very well, mine easily keeps up with the Viking range we recently put in.
Hi Pam – going back in time to an older blog post – I can hardly contain myself!!!! I just scored a brand-new-in-the-box-never-installed Mercury Fan from Craigslist for $25!!!! Just like the one in your picture
The guy even said he had a lady from Texas call him wanting it, but since she hadn’t called him back, he’s selling to me because I am local. I just wonder if she is a RR reader – if so, I feel only a little bad!
Way to go, Tami! Hey, send me a pic and I’ll post it. retrorenovation [at] gmail [dot] com
