Cute overload, from Apartment Therapy earlier this year. It’s been a wild and wacky holiday season. I’m going drinking to recover tonight, I swear. Would you believe it, we have one of America’s classic, unchanged tiki bars right here in Lenox, Mass. — The Luau Hale. Have a great weekend, everyone!

Did you post this for me?
Its GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Of course, dear PugFreek!
Oh Please oh please go to the tiki bar and take lots of photos! There are so few places like that left, and we tiki aficionados would sure appreciate it!! And have a Mai Tai for me!
AH I LOVE IT! Its funny, I just got this Perfect Chair from officedesigns.com and its so comfortble, but MY DOG is always sitting in it. My wife always puts a chair on it before we go to bed because we wake up and he’s curled up in it!
That is adorable! Does it come in a size big enough for collies?
LOL
I’ll have to check out that tiki bar, I only live an hour away. Pictures would be great!
OMG! I went to college back in the early 80s in Lenox! We went to Luau Hale all the time. That was my first taste of Asian food–well, the Americanized version, I’m sure. The Pu Pu Platter was to die for!
And the puppy is TOO cute!

Thanks Mid Mod Pam!
Pam, didn’t you post one time about drinks from the 60s? I remember brandy alexanders being (in the 60s) the premiere “girly” cocktail. My mom dated a guy who ran “the Chiave Club” in our little town (little did I know he was mob-connected!), and I used to go there with her in the afternoons where the bartender would mix me up a light Brandy Alexander.
In the same vein, a grasshopper (made with creme de menthe and a lovely shade of green) was a popular girl drink. Then there was the ever popular martini, tom collins, stinger, screw driver, and sloe gin fizz. Other tiki drinks: Singapore slings, mai tais (as previously mentioned by Tikimania), and scorpions.
Don’t forget: Whiskey Sours! Here’s the post I ran on tiki bars and drinks, that may be the one you’re remembering: http://retrorenovation.com/2008/10/05/tiki-bars-are-hot-polynesian-pop-revived/
Susan, let me know when you want to tiki in Lenox. We’ll have a RetroRenovation kaffee klatsch…err, MaiTaiFest!
Jen, interestingly, I believe I’ve seen a fabulous porcelain enamel ‘mop sink’ available from Kohler. I always thought this would be great for a mudroom for those with doggies to clean!
