St. Louis Shelly has a gorgeous gray bathroom in her 1956 house. The drain of her sink has rusted out, and she needs an all-new sink. Good news: The sink appears to be a Kohler Tahoe with hudee ring, and this model is still available today in a light gray. Bad news: It will take 42 days to get the sink via special order. I referred Shelly to this post — and asked to see more photos so that we could all ogle the gray bathroom – a color I haven’t featured yet. Oh my goodness, this is so beautiful – the vanity…THE FLOOR…the shower door…THE GRAY! The only thing you could need: Some wallpaper (of course!) or some print for your walls to bring in color. Once either of those are in place, you can spec your towels. Heck yeah there is more →

Joey Harrison is my very favorite photographer met via flickr. His mother Chalet also is a beautiful photographer – and writer. Today, her lovely memories of their family home in East Lansing, Mich. Like many of us, this house wasn’t exactly what she planned on. But… read on…

Speedway Ron has now developed an intense need to acquire every small appliance ever made that was recessed directly into the wall. To go with all his steel kitchens and now, he tells me, 4 vintage refrigerators in his possession: Pam, again I blame you…I was pretty happy living my life and not knowing that [...]

A PLANTER MOLDED RIGHT INTO A TOILET TANK LID? Well, this is a new one to me… found in this ad for a 1964 Eljer Estate toilet. And of course – LOVE it. Has anyone ever seen this? Let’s all be on the lookout. Like spotting rare and endangered species in the (retro)Amazon. Carry your [...]

Here’s a wonderful vintage oddity — a woddity – that I learned about yesterday: The witty “egghead” ceramics designed by LaGardo Tackett and marketed by Playboy and Esquire magazines as bedside storage for condoms back in the swinging 60s. A witty woddity: An egg. To hold condoms. Get it? And “Think”, before you… err, leap, I [...]

Wow, this may be the rarest vintage steel kitchen we’ve seen yet: A Youngstown Servi-Center, which was originally posted on real estate agent and reader Sarah Snodgrass’ blog, At Home in Brookside, Kansas City. That’s Sarah –> … I always like me a smiling face on the blog. Anyway, this Servi-Center IMMEDIATELY caught my eye because [...]
