Flickr friend Two-Bad provides these images of his (her?) Frigidaire Flair range, along with a vintage ad. Readers say that Samantha Stevens had one in Bewitched. While this model had many imitators – for some reason, the Frigidaire Flair seems to be everyone’s favorite. And look at how great the Danish Modern orange looks with the pink… and the gold… and are those popovers in the oven on the left? Many thanks, Two-Bad!

I’m shopping for a house, and actually saw a stove like this last night in a house I looked at. The owners had been foreclosed on, and had ripped out the kitchen sink and countertops. The realtor saw the ovens and thought that the stovetop had been ripped out as well, until I slid it out. She was stunned and asked how I knew those burners were there. I explained to her that I learned to cook on a stove very much like that one, except ours was a different brand, all stainless, and the burners were in a straight line, and there was a cutting board section in front that could be folded down. I’m not big on electric ranges, but that was a great stove!!

Dear Pam, I TRULY love everything about your unique site…the pictures and stories about the Flair just bring me back to a very special time and place in my life. My mom still has a light blue (“Cadillac” blue!) Flair in her kitchen…it is still cooking!…such an icon for me! I watched Bewitched faithfully, and when I saw the first color episode in season 3, I was SO excited that Samantha had “our stove” in that “60’s kitchen” light yellow! Recently, I wrote a brief story about my mom’s “Frigidaire Kitchen” on GM Wiki, and I found your link. I’m thrilled!! I’m 54 and this is a great site to remember how my past looked! I’ll be checking in alot for your AMAZING retro pics and advertisement prints! Do you have any pics of the late 1950’s Frigidaire washer with the up and down “pump” instead of the “side to side” agitator? My grandmother had one…that washer ROCKED!!
Thank you so much for all the details and sharing your knowledge with us!

Hi Kay, that is SO nice of you to say! I would love to see a pic of your mom’s stove. Some day soon I’ll get to writing about all the vintage stoves, washers, dryers, etc. Nearly 2 years with the blog – and I simply “haven’t gotten” to it yet!

Well, my Flair shopping was a bust. It was in good condition, but we didn’t trust that it was actually working. The guy said it was but he was kind of a jerk right off the bat. We offered $100, which is low, I know. But he scoffed at us, walked back into his house, and said he wanted $2000! Too much for a Flair in questionable shape in any market. And he had gotten rid of all of the other good stuff that used to be in the house. So my saga ends today and I won’t pine away for that Flair again.

Dear Pam,
I LOVE your site ! We currently live in a new home but hope to retire in several years time and relocate. We have looked at two
homes we have considered buying…both wonderful homes from
the sixties. Your site has given me the encouragement to go for it !
I will continue to follow for the near future !
Thanks again !

Pam, you have no idea how much I love your blog!
The story goes: Mr. Dulane and I looked at the house in late 2008, loved it, but a bad street. Instead we bought a 1951 ranch in Northridge, CA (in former Meadowlark Park, architect Edward H. Fickett). The house came with all the furniture, mostly from 1950s and 60s. The place had a wood-paneled study with built in starburst-type clock above the fireplace, original linoleum floors, a PINK bathroom, chrome and formica table, Frigidaire Flair, the works. In January, we went back to ask the new owner about the furniture, figuring he would give it all away. The contractor was there, gutting the place and I left him my card and said that we were interested in the furniture (and the Flair) if the new owner hadn’t gotten rid of it. We hadn’t heard so we thought it was all gone, and then he called 2 days ago! We’re going to check it out tomorrow. I do not need a stove, but how could I pass up the Flair?
Sorry for the long post!

no problem kiki! take pics. p.s. what does “need” have to do with it!

We’re following you, Kiki. I thought they gutted the Flair etc.?

I know no one is probably following my comments, but I have to post. The time capsule owner I mentioned above called me yesterday! I’m going to see the Flair on Friday. He has a matching Formica and chrome dinette set. I should buy it all, right???

Oh, woe! My heart aches for the house we didn’t buy in Van Nuys, CA, a perfect time capsule. That was where I first laid eyes on the Flair, turquoise and perfect. I went back after the new owners closed the sale, they were gutting the place and couldn’t tell me where it had gone.
