Flickr friend Two-Bad provides these images of his (her?) Frigidaire Flair range, along with a vintage ad. Readers say that Samantha Stevens had one in Bewitched. While this model had many imitators – for some reason, the Frigidaire Flair seems to be everyone’s favorite. And look at how great the Danish Modern orange looks with the pink… and the gold… and are those popovers in the oven on the left? Many thanks, Two-Bad!

My Mom has the Tappan Fabulous 400 Electric Visualite stove (I believe that’s the model–from blog on Bob Vila’s site), very much like the Frigidaire Flair. It needs some repair: inside glass in door of large oven; new wiring for burners (wire is fried). It worked fine up to about 3 weeks ago. I’ve been consulting restaurant equipment suppliers/installers to see if I could get the electric burners converted to gas. That may seem like sacrilege to you retro folks, sorry. I prefer to cook with gas. That doesn’t seem possible/practical however, but I’ll be happy just having the repairs. I’ve got someone coming tomorrow morning to look at it. The configuration is great, especially for short people (like Mom and me). The 4 burners are all in a row, at a lower height than standard counter height (31-3/8″ vs. 36″).
How can I send a photo?

I work for a telcom and went to customers house who had this stove. As a person who go in multiple homes a day this was the first time I ever saw a stove like this one. Had to ask the customer about it. It came with the house and she still cooked on it.
Like another reader said, one of the irons on her stove does not work anymore. And it’s next to impossible find someone who knows how to work on them. The kitchen was custom made with a built-in mixer and food processor in the counter next to the stove. I think it to was part of the stove as a unit ? It too stopped working.
It was just so cool to see something like that so on a whim I came online to see if i could find something about this stove and ran across this site. In all my years it is really the most unique stove I’ve seen so far. Wish they bring this one back.

I have a frigedair flair stove, single oven, which is in a condo I just bought. I was told the small front burner didn’t work as someone unknowledgeable pulled out the cook top too fast and broke it. I had someone come look at it and try to see if it was the wiring and thought it could be corrected, but after doing so it arched so bad you could tell there was a problem. I also found out the sensor front burner, the big one only stayed on high. I was told no way to get a replacement. So I am looking for help as I hate to pull the stove out and do all the remodeling, etc. required in a condo as it’s big bucks.
Anyone got any suggestions as I would really appreciate your input.

Pamela, this is not a fixit site. See this post for some tips: https://retrorenovation.com/2010/01/02/where-to-turn-to-get-your-vintage-appliances-fixed/ … Good luck.

My Aunt W has one of these stoves in pristine condition. Very interesting. Loved the advertisement.

Hi All,
Does ANYBODY out there know if anyone is making an oven like this anymore? My mom and I each had one-love them. I have a bad back and don’t want a lower oven (who ever thought designing THAT was a good idea-lower oven and turkey don’t mix…)
There must be a manufacturer who sees the wisdom in this design. Any ideas on how to get a new one?
thanks,
Pam

I read your post about wanting A Flair oven. I have a 1963 model. Work excellent. The only thing that don’t work is the clock. All the burners work and both ovens, broiler also works. Very clean. I have the manual also. And the sales receipt when it was purchased. If you would like to see it, you can email me.

I have this very same Frigidaire Flair Electric Range/Double Oven!
Love it to death! The stove top is like a drawer and you can push it back in– very nice if you have company coming and don’t have time to clean it! I also have one front burner that no longer works, have been trying to figure out how to fix it~to no avail. Stumbled on this site looking for any info on how to fix it.
Any ideas would be appreciated. Will be extremely sad when the whole unit dies!

Wow….My parents had a very similiar range. Bought new in 1963, a single top oven with controls on the side for the four buners below. The storage area open via a small pedel towards the lower right bottom on a large steel door with semi circular shelves in the inside of the door. The oven door glass looked a lot like the photo. I’m not sure of the brand. We used to try and hide in there playing hide n’ seek…..Pretty Cool!

January, 2010 – believe it or not we still have a working Frigidair Flair range. One burner and no longer works, but everything else works great – use it every day. Really will hate it when this one hits the dust. The two ovens have been extremely valuable for Holiday cooking.

My mom has one of these ranges and she LOVES it. It has a few problems. She lives on the Washington coast, Hoquiam to be exact. Know of anyone qualified to refurbish her love, the range that is! HELP!
