faucet-for-american-brand-kitchen-sink.jpg1946-american-kitchen-crop2.jpgCan you believe it? You can still get the exact faucet required for a vintage American-Brand kitchen drainboard sink. It’s available here from Locke Plumbing. The owners tell me they still sell quite a few of them, including to lots of folks in Europe. Click on the thumbnail of the faucet for sale – you can see it’s designed to nestle right into the backsplash of the sink top. I am told it does not fit other sinks, so no need to go there. Cool, huh? I just love having found this – thanks again go to Russell for turning us on to Locke Plumbing. Remember folks, they are also great if you want to fix a particular brand of vintage toilet.

So, are the drainboard sinks still available somewhere? That would make a nice setup with my soon to be install Geneva kitchen.

      • Pam Kueber says:

Joe, as far as I know, no one makes these porcelain-on-cast-iron drainboard sinks anymore. You’d have to find these vintage (try historichouseparts.com), or, go for aluminum from Elkay (see Countertops section in the Fast & East box).

    2. Joe says:

Aluminum would be good. I was planning on a dishmaster but this combo might be nice too. Thanks Pam!

    3. Chris says:

We are actually on this site to see what we could find and we just recently removed this sink from our kitchen. We still have all of it though. Down to the cabinets and countertop. We really loved it, but my uncle insisted on an upgrade.

    4. NorthsideCJ says:

I love this kitchen…..if only there were better flooring choices available today. And where is the oven/stove/range? This is pretty much the look I went for in my kitchen. (Minus the red floor and the drool-worthy drainboard sink) Not sure about that wall paper for the soffit though.

    5. Pam Kueber says:

NorthsideCJ, I think that you can replicate this flooring pretty well today – both Armstrong and Forbo offer TRUE linoleum. As for the wallpaper on the soffit, you know what I think of that!

    6. Hillary says:

We just replaced the faucet on our American Kitchens sink with one of these this year! The original faucet lasted 60 years of continual use…not bad.

    7. Ires says:

Locke Plumbing was our lifesaver in replacing the faucet in the American Kitchens cabinets & sink we bought off of NH Craigslist. A very fair price and quickly shipped.

Our plumber couldn’t believe we had a new replacement.

    8. jenSC says:

Try demolition and salvage places. They can often refer you to refinishers too. I just bought a double bowl cast iron sink for $250 in pristine condition!

    9. lindsay says:

Does anyone know if these American Kitchen faucets can be replaced by a different type of faucet? Would love to upgrade but haven’t found a faucet..

    10. Kim says:

Thank you Thank you Thank you.

I have a customer who is looking for a replacement faucet for her sink. I thought it was impossible until I found this web site.

      Just amazing.

      Kim

    11. Ben says:

This is EXACTLY what I was looking for– my local plumber was going to charge me $400 to do this…and was going to install a new faucet. THANK YOU! You rock.

    12. I have this very sink (we love it)! The porcelain on the sink seems to be damaged a bit. What is the best way to repair?

    13. David says:

We have this full unit…the LS 6600 as pictured above. We need a new faucet. Someone had put in a delta faucet that in no way fits! I ordered the exact faucet from this web site! Thanks Locke!

    14. Kathleen says:

We have this faucet & sink unit. We currently have a drippy faucet, I think from the hot side. Is there any instructions on how to dismantle the faucet unit?? I bookmarked the Locke Plumbing site in case we need to replace it in the future. I’m hoping it’s a simple washer or black rubber thingy replacement. I believe the stems are fine.

      • David says:

Kathleen. We have this same sink/faucet and I recently replaced the washers in both sides.
If you or someone else has replaced faucet washers,it’s an easy job.
I also purchased a “Seat Grinder”($5) to make sure the new washers last.

    15. William says:

I purchased one of these faucets several years ago for my 1950 American Kitchen and it has been great! I am in the process of restoring my cabinets by removing the doors and drawers and having them powder coated Appliance White. The company I selected did one drawer and one door as a sample for me and they turned out wonderful! Now, I just need to locate some replacement door pulls. I have the originals, none of which are broken, but they have grown dingy over the years. Does anyone have any ideas about where I might find something to replace them with? They are 2 1/8″ in diameter and I can find nothing of that size available. I checked all the referenced sources you list.
