Holy moley, this is one of the most uplifting stunts ever. Thanks to reader Megan for spotting it. Happy weekend, all.

Kitchens – Countertops

Okay, this is the last day of my little fixation with retro laminates. (For now.) As you know, I am a devotee of the Sherwin Williams Suburban Modern palette, both interior and exterior. So, I have gone through Arpa’s line of solid-colored laminates and for the most part, been able to line up 10 colors [...]

I’ve written before about mixing countertop surfaces in your 40s 50s or 60s kitchen. But I recently came across these great photos and thought they would be very helpful. The photos show: How to lower cabinetry to create a place to roll out your pie dough (of course). Put a slab of marble here — [...]

I felt blog ego come upon me (horrors, ego!) when Ronn challenged my assessment that the countertop in this kitchen was original. Maybe yes, maybe no, but if his belief is that it’s 90s because of the integral backsplash and edge (rather than the pattern) – I did respond that I’ve spotted integral design for [...]

“Fake butcher block countertops” are another one of those original vintage house features that I often hear called “hideous” on other websites. (Crikey, how I have come to despise that word — it is overkill, please refrain.) I, on the other hand, not only have “no problem” with butcher block laminate, I am 100% on [...]

The most popular laminate design in mid century America? Boomerang Formica? Nope, guess again. According to materials expert Grace Jeffers, the most popular design was actually linen. You know what I’m talking about — that kind of tight-to-medium-weave with nubblies stuff. I had it both my bathrooms with vanities. In pistachio green = absolutely iconic. [...]

How come those things never happen when I’m around?
That one seemed to get everybody involved, like there were no real travelers in the station at all!
What a spirit lifter! Something about it made me think Girl Scout event, maybe because it looked like lots of moms and daughters in the “in-on-it” group.
Awesome! I am now energized and inspired for the day!!!
Our local theater group did this same sort of “spontaneous” song and dance routine during our town’s Fourth of July parade. People all of a sudden started joining in from the crowd when the theater group started singing “Doe, a deer, a female deer…” It was spectacular. You can see it on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9dOvVer3Hpo (it starts at about 1.50 minutes into the video).
I love flash mobs! They never fail to make me smile.
totally awesome!!!
OMG that would have totally made me happy for the rest of the day! I wouldn’t have been able to wipe the smile off of my face.
This is so much fun! What a mood-enhancer.
Femme1 – your town’s parade was a hoot!
That reminds me of the one that T-Mobile made – I love watching this video! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQ3d3KigPQM
Hello,
I have seen that before, kinda puts a lump in my throat. If that wouldn’t cheer up a bad day, I don’t know what would.
