Jonathan Adler gives us a tour of Barbie’s Malibu Dream House

I love pink bathrooms. I was born the same year as Barbie. Of course, I would love everything about Barbie’s real-life Malibu Dream House, with the interior designed by Jonathan Adler. Anyone who talks about “over the top kitten-ness” is a friend of mine. I want that pillow on Barbie’s bed. The chandelier made out of blonde wigs: Scary.

Sometime about 1970, Barbie turned from a Working Girl/Nurse/Airline Stewardess/Fashion Model into America’s Ultimate Unemployed Consumer. And they gave her those “spaced-out” eyes…What happened?

I see Barbie living in the MaryAnn Roy interiors shown below. They are fabulous.

btw- the text from the Jonathan Adler Website is a hoot!

I wanted to see the rest of her closet! Was hoping it had full size reproductions of all those groovy 1950s & 1960s clothes – wouldn’t that be fun?

Really fun to look at, but not so much fun to live there! LOL! You’re right about the chandelier, it is scary! I think the mirror made of barbies is a tad scary too, but all in all it is so fun!
