John, the sales manager at deabath.com, has become an online friend. He helps me with bathroom questions sometimes… and reports that he has a “kitchen with really cool white-with-gold-fleck laminate in it. And a ’52 ford truck in pieces in the garage.” John recently sent me this tempting update:
Hi Pam,
Was up in Portland OR for a wedding, wound up doing some shopping as well…. We scored a load of late ’50’s and early ’60’s Crane fixtures still in their boxes. Most all in a lovely shade of persian red, but never installed. Sorry, no pink ones….:( This was quite the find! In the first pic [now shown directly above-pk], there are a couple boxes and buckets. Those are full of new, unwrapped towel bars, soap dishes, and other bath fittings. All dating to the late ’50’s. I can hardly stand it…..

Thank you, John. You have one of my dream jobs. Disclosure: Deabath advertises on my site. I strive to ignore such bourgeios details and only post what catches my fancy and/or serves the needs of my demanding public. Of course, I appreciate their support of the blog (baby needs a new pair of shoes), and I encourage readers to take a look at their wares.
Check out deabath.com here: Deabath.com – colored fixtures.

Am looking for the dark red Crane sink? Is it possible I would be lucky enough that you still have them available. The one on this website is exactly what I am looking for.
pam kueber says
Kim, you need to contact the company written about if the info is there. We do not sell anything on this site.

I just bought a 1959 Brick Bungalow. Mint Green and Pink Bathrooms with original Crane Criterion Tubs, Sinks and Faucets. The green toilet must have been damaged and replaced. Do you know where I could find a replacement?
pam kueber says
See Bathrooms/Toilets category, we have two sources for new pastel toilets, although I can’t remember if there’s a mint green. Good luck. If not – see our stories about where to hunt for vintage plumbing fixtures (same category or use Search box, which works well.)

Pam, I always think it’s strange (ironic maybe?) that pink is simultaneously the most h***d bathroom color AND the only pastel color still available new. I guess it could be that pink is a neutral color whereas green and blue are not.
pam kueber says
There ARE other pastels available from Gerber and Peerless, too!
Henry Bernard says
Pam, with your permission I have a Ming Green Crane Criterion toilet with the original seat. If you’d like to pass this along to Ms. Maddox it may be of help to her.
Best,
Henry

You all need to take this over to the forum — https://retrorenovation.com/forums
good luck

I saw 2 beautiful Crane sinks today at Rejuvenation (the outside lot) — pretty yellow and lovely blue. Oh, I’m trying to think of a reason to buy these. Even had the vintage fixtures that still worked and appeared to be in good condition. Sigh…..

I am looking for toilet seats for two Crane Criterion toilets (one gray, one blue). The seats are elongated and have an unusual “saddle” shape. Thanks for any insights and leads!
pam kueber says
John — see my category using the blue navigation above: Bathrooms / Toilets. There are several toilet seat suppliers – Bemis in particular – that should be able to help you. Let us know how it turns out. Good luck –
John says
Thanks, Pam – I checked out their website (great stuff!) and have emailed them.
And I had no idea Crane Criterion toilets were so coveted (and expensive – over $1000!).
I love your website, which I read about in the New York Times recently.

I have a ’37 Buick in pieces in my garage. Coincidentally, I just saw a grey Crane sink that was still in the box at an estate sale. I immediately thought of you, Pam!

Holy Cow!
I need that blue sink. I have a friend with a bathtub the same color!

I have a 68 Dodge Coronet in my garage.
Funny thing about the Crane sinks/toilets. My Dad used to say to my sister “I thought of you today when I went to the bathroom”….as her married name is CRANE. ha! ha! If only she’s married into that Crane family. Just a little clean bathroom humor

You have me crawling underneath my vintage sink w/a flash light to see the make (vintage Kohler). No Crane. But now I know. 🙂

@ Shane —
I have a hunch that quite a few of us Retro Renovation junkies have a zeal for mid-century design that goes beyond the house, and into the garage.
