DIY swag kits made of beautiful cloth cord, from Shandell’s
How cool is this: The first product introduced into the marketplace as an outgrowth of the blog.
Earlier this year, when my friend Susan Schneider and I made a video sharing ideas to create upcycled swag and pendant light shades, we were surprised to discover that the only Do-It-Yourself swag kits were icky plastic. Inexpensive — yes, but with the look and feel of a stiff white garden hose. What to do? Well, Susan being a professional lamp-maker and all, got all entrepreneurial-like and has now introduced DIY swag kits made of beautiful, Made in the U.S.A. cloth cord. And yeehaw, I got to be the first one to try the kit! –> Heck yeah there is more →

Sahara Hotel liquidation sale: 600,000 items for sale from this 1962 Rat Pack hangout
Thanks to reader Jennifer Quintana, who spotted this fantastic sale: Starting Thursday, June 16, all contents of the famous Sahara Hotel in Las Vegas will be sold. From the news release:
The Sahara opened in 1952 as the sixth resort on the strip. The Moroccan-themed Sahara was well-known for being a famous hangout of the Rat Pack and is the only remaining casino from that era still standing. There is still that “Rat Pack” feel at the Sahara, from the portraits on the walls, to the last, original camel in the lobby. People traveled far and wide for that nostalgic feeling and this will be their last opportunity to see the Sahara as it stands today.
If a reader can go on Thursday and take photos for the blog — I’ll happily refund your $10 admission and find you something from my treasure chest as well – any takers? Oh, can you pick me up a blackjack table, too?

Reader-Pam finds a stash of NOS Imperialites, how should she sell them? 24 photos
I recently purchased a very large number of Emerson Imperial light fixtures still in the original boxes. I do not know what they are worth or where to sell them. Any ideas?
I asked Pam to send some photos, and did she ever: Above are thumbnails of an album she sent to me. She says that in many cases, there are multiples of the fixtures shown. What a treasure trove. I’ve now asked for the back story — where the heck did these all come from. But, I cannot wait to show these lovelies photos — so here I am with some thoughts on her question.
