Gladding McBean tile mural – Pony Express

gladding mcbean pony express tile mural

Since I wrote recently about Gladding McBean tile from the Leo Carrillo Ranch, I now know to watch for it. So do others — this salvaged mural for sale on ebay is pretty spendy. Fantastic, though. Lots of other Really Good Stuff here, too. Seriously. I could showcase about 250 fabuloso items each week, but ebay’s carousel is limited to 10 items, so that slows me down. Alas. Tip to using the ebay carousel: To go to a particular item, click on its photo (NOT on the ebay logo) — then, click on the lime green “View and Bid” box, which will take you to ebay. Disclosure: When you buy anything from these ebay carousels or after you click into ebay here, it nets me a teensy commission.

Thanks! I just bid on the pair of ceiling lights. I’ve been regretting not taking the same lights down from my parents’ house (’59 rancher) when we sold it.

I did manage to save the glass ceiling shade from Mom and Dad’s room, but forgot about these lights over the built-in bar in the rec room.

I was just going through the materials list (yes, we’re fortunate that all the blueprints, etc. were left behind) for our 1961 architect-designed boomerang ranch and saw that Gladding-McBean Franciscan Hermosa tiles were specified for two of the bathrooms. You have a great site…I’m always running into it while searching for information on how to remodel a mid-century modern ranch with Colonial overtones and Storybook diamond windows (in a circular dining room!).
