“It’s not garbage if it’s new to you” — Zooey Deschanel and Bein’ Quirky

Many thanks to reader Jessica, who sent me this link to this Saturday Night Live skit, “Bein’ Quirky with Zooey Deschanel.” Tribe: It is a very serious deal that we don’t take ourselves too seriously. Also: Points out there is Hope for the Future, I love these kids. Yes, as Jessica says:

“It’s not garbage, if it’s new to you!” Hilarious!

Bwaaaa-ha! After months of puzzling over our remodel, we just last week decided on biscuit subway tile for our aqua kitchen. I guess I’d better find some leaf wallpaper to round things out.

What a weird sketch! So Zooey is playing Mary Kate and and someone else is playing Zooey?

It makes my head hurt. 😉

    Love the kitchen!

OMG! Making lamps out of stuff. How quirky. I was just looking at a shop on Etsy where a lady makes lamps out of those old Corning Ware percolators that were recalled in 1979 but no one sent them back because they didn’t really offer you anything in exchange for your dangerous coffee pot but coupons for teeny amounts of money off on other Corning products.
I think Zooey makes a better Mary Kate than Mary Kate does, and this makes me want to find where my family hid all my Björk cd’s.

Funny stuff – “knitted a brand new vintage sweater”…I like quirky. And, I want a lot of aqua stuff I see in that kitchen! Good job on the set decorating, ‘cept I would’ve used a colorful vintage tablecloth.

I enjoy the tradition (recent?) of the host mocking himself on SLN, but Zoey Deschanel’s was one of the funniest I’ve ever seen. I’m not in any way a ZD fan–lazy typist–, but that sketch was hilarious. The squeaky Cera; the brilliantly goofy (but fun) Bjork; and the shrouded, bird-thin Mary Kate made me laugh at least as much as the host who really overplayed it in a good-spirited way.
