UPDATE: Jubilee is back — read our story here.
Is everyone signed up for the Vermont Country Store catalog? As regular readers will know, Vermont Country Store is a wonderful source for lots of old-timey, retro resources… lots of brands from the way back time machine that Vermont Country Store has dug up and revived. My spring issue arrived in the snail mail last week … which prompted me to poke around the website to see if I could figure out what was “new”. How about this: Old-Fashioned Kitchen wax sourced to help replicate Jubilee wax. Their website explains:
We’ve been inundated with requests for a kitchen wax that works just like Jubilee, the beloved liquid wax that vanished from supermarket shelves years ago. After lots of testing, we finally found one that will bring the shine you remember back to your kitchen. Great for cabinets, countertops and appliances. 16 oz bottle.
- Vanquishes everything from grease and grime to fingerprints and food stains
- Leaves behind a protective layer, making cleaning easier in the future
- Nonabrasive wax formula will not scratch
- Cleans, shines and protects kitchen appliances, bathroom fixtures and surfaces
- Do not use on floors or in bathtubs. Do not ingest – Keep out of reach of children.
Any experience on where we can really use liquid wax like this in vintage homes, readers?

I had an avacado green mixer that had wood grain print on it. Polishing it with the Johnson’s kitchen wax took off that decoration accidentally.

I have used Jubilee on my countertops for 30 years, untill I could no longer buy it. What is supposed to be the problem with using on laminate?

Hi Everyone,
I too have always LOVED Jubilee and was so disappointed when Johnson quit making it. Well, JOY! A company has purchased the rights to manufacture it and are selling it (albeit by the case). I’m going to include the website:

I think it is $45 for a case, but totally worth it to have such a great product again!

If you’re looking for the real deal go to consumerproducts.malcopro.com. They are manufacturing this orphan product. I just ordered a case.

My grandma’s kitchen smelled glorious due to Jubilee Wax! She used it on the stove she had from the 1940s till about 2000. She also used it on her linoleum (the REAL thing) floor. However, my favourite place she used it was on her Venetian blinds! They always shone and were never dusty. The morning sun probably enhanced that scent i miss SO much!!

I have a coveted spray can of Jubilee under my sink – it’s almost gone. It doesn’t spray quite like it should, but it works still. I hadn’t realized Johnson Wax stopped making it! I’ll try this. My Mom always used it on all the sinks in the house, the countertops, the stove, the chrome fixtures – anything that could be made to shine. I wouldn’t use it on floors – it’s slippery….. VERY slippery.
