Update: Congrats to winner Danielle! I went thru the entries, pruned duplicates, spun the random.org random number generator, found a winner, and she emailed me back tout suit. Thanks, everyone, for your lovely comments — and come back soon for more contests and retro fun!
So, I have been in the “let’s do some giveaways” mood. And I was thinking, yes, the holidays are not too far away. And, golly, everyone always goes crazy over Georgia Peachez’ (aka Suzy’s) Shiny Brite wreathes. So I asked Suzy to make one up for me (shown above)… I bought it from her… and it’s sitting on her dining room table itching to go to its new home. How to make a wreath using vintage Christmas tree ornaments — Suzy’s instructions
I bet we’ll get a lot of entries for this one — and there can only be one winner. So, the idea behind posting this giveaway right now is to remind you creative types to think ahead … make sure you’re collecting a whole bunch of vintage ornies … and gear up to make one of these yourself maybe. I know that in a lot of thrift stores across America, they start pulling out all the vintage ornaments for sale pretty soon. Or, maybe you’ve been collecting them all summer? That said, I know a lot of us *think* we’ll do a project… but never do… so keep an eye on Suzy’s blog because she keeps making wreaths all fall… she posts them for sale… and they sell out fast!
In the following super-popular story, Suzy showed us how she does it — how to make a wreath out of vintage Christmas tree ornaments:
Thank you, Suzy — you are such an inspiration!

I remember seeing this wreath last year and was super excited about it then! Since then I’ve been on the hunt for more vintage ornaments to add to my current collection….except I’m still so reluctant to make a wreath out of them…..someday!

I love the wreath it brings back every Christmas memory of my Nana. She decorated her trees with her vintage ornaments and the ones she picked up at estate sales. She would say “why buy new when there were so many vintage ones that needed a good home”. A friend sent me your link, love your blog lots of great ideas.

Just bought a new old house, and this wreath would look great on my vintage front door!

Here in the mid-west we are looking forward to a lecture on mid-century modern at the Kalamazoo Institute of Arts by Carla Hartman, grand daughter of the Eames. She’ll be talking about Eames furniture design and current Herman Miller product development.

Love this wreath. Reminds me of my childhood back in the 50’s! Everything seemed to be so much more simple. Of course, I would not have had the opportunity to win such a wonderful wreath back then!

Love, love, love this! Peace and happiness…
