We recently featured an exclusive sneak peek of the new sketches of Avenue 62 line from Younger Furniture. Now, Meredith Younger Spell, President of Younger Furniture, has sent us these latest sneak-preview shots featuring some of the actual designs including some of the fun patterns and solid upholstery choices that will be available in stores later this year.

From what I’ve seen so far, there will be a fun array of color choices as well as some sensible neutrals and bold patterns — this line has a little something for everyone. The shade of green fabric on the Harris sofa above is very similar to the original upholstery on my retro side chairs. Green is a very versatile color — in reality, a neutral — and this color looks to blend avocado with chartreuse. This color — like the very design of the Harris — could bridge any interior channeling the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. Great color!

I’m really digging that yellow chair — it is so nice to have some bright upholstery options. Neutral pieces are always a smart choice, but the right colorful piece of furniture can really add the wow factor to your space — and this yellow Trudy chair wows me — big time.

The matching Lewis chair is also lovely — it would be fun to get the couch in a neutral color and put a punchy pattern or bright color on the matching chair.

Above: What a curvaceous grouping of furniture this is! The Edie chairs and curved bench look so inviting — I’d love to kick back and have a cocktail in one of those.

If you like smaller doses of fabric or color, the upholstery configuration on the Harper armless sofa shown above might be just the thing you’ve been searching for. Mostly neutral with contrasting funky patterned pillows — the perfect mix of mod and contemporary.

Meredith has promised to keep Pam and me updated with new pictures of the actual upholstered pieces from the Avenue 62 line as they become available — and we can’t wait to see what other fun patterns, textures and colors of upholstery fabric will be offered. We’ll keep you in the loop.

Until then, feel free to check out the Younger Furniture website.

      So Perfect !

Any information on the general price points?

    4. BlueJay says:

And replacement sofa has been identified! We currently have a Macy’s Corona, and I suspect that by next year, we’ll need to replace it. I’m excited that these appear to come in actual colors! :)

      • Lynne says:

My 2 year old Corona is also showing serious premature age. Younger furniture here I come! Well, if only I could FIND them remotely close to me! I have gone to their site and I have come up empty. So, Meredith, if you are reading this, where in Illinois can I buy your drop dead gorgeous furniture?

        • BlueJay's Wife says:

Lynne, the search feature on the Younger site is a little strange. Try putting in a major city (Chicago?) instead of your actual location. When I put in my suburban MD zip code, for example, the site says there are no retailers near me. But if I type in “Baltimore, MD”, I get hits from Delaware to DC.

          • Lynne says:

Thanks Blue Jay, there are a few sources in Chicago. This is great furniture, but I too wouldn’t mind a price point, just so I know what to expect.

          • BlueJay says:

Hahaha! I love that you commented as ‘BlueJay’s Wife’! That’s fantastic. And it made my morning. :D

        • Lauryn says:

Lynne, there are a few online retailers who sell Younger and were posted on the original post about this line that Pam did a few weeks back. We have a Younger sofa and LOVE LOVE LOVE it!

    5. Christina says:

I’m loving the green sofa. Nearly enough to distract me from the fact that I’ve been wanting a turquoise one. That yellow chair is pretty great too.

    6. Martha says:

Love every piece shown here. Any idea on what the prices will be?

    7. Nikki says:

Oh my! I’m speechless and in love!

    8. Mark says:

      Very very cool!!

    9. Marta says:

      Doing some serious coveting here.

    10. Ana says:

      LOVE. Those all look great.

    11. Hi Everyone and thank you for all the love!! Please put in the nearest major city on our dealer locator. We have lots of great partners in Chicago listed! Also, prices for sofas will range from about $1299-1799… depending on fabric choice. Can’t wait for Avenue 62 to hit stores!! Thank you Pam for your support!!

      • Lynne says:

Oh, wow! Those prices are totally do-able! Meredith, do you only do upholstered pieces? Will we see tables, and case goods to go with?

      • pam kueber says:

Thank YOU, Meredith!!! Keep these designs coming!!

      • MikeD says:

        Price points on the chairs?

Have a chair purchase I have been wanting to make for a while. When I saw the first round of info come across retrorenovation.com on this Avenue 62 line I decided to wait and check these out before I purchased

      • Lauryn says:

Meredith, just want to personally thank you for making such wonderful furniture. Found out about you through Pam, bought a Mikel sofa (sight unseen) and couldn’t be happier with it! So unbelievably well built, absolutely gorgeous, and incredibly comfy. And made in the USA! We are SO happy with our purchase and look forward to buying more some day!

    12. June Cahill says:

      Fabulique!:)

    13. Heather says:

oh, man, I LOVE these! The sofas are gorgeous! And the Edie chair in that lovely shad of blue – I swoon!

    14. lynda says:

This company has certainly hit the mark. Beautiful designs and seems like a better price point than DWR.

    15. I love that blue chair! Oh my gosh…If I didn’t have cats who would destroy it in a New York minute, I’d be saving up for that one.

    16. Lauryn says:

Oh my, I love that Edie chair. Our decor leans more to the 1940s, so not sure it would work, but might be able to put it up in our attic studio. They just look so fabulous and comfy!!

    17. lara jane says:

I’m very much hoping that the second-to-last sofa isn’t the only style in this line that is NOT a pillow-back, which, in our experience, does not hold up well at all.

    18. Ryan says:

What’s wrong with me? I’m not digging these. In general, evocative of MCM, however they feel like a contempo compromise — soft, tufted, curves on the Harris, complete with the detailing on the front. If you replaced the legs on these items you might find something similiar in any Lazy Boy showroom. I just wish someone would make MCM furniture with conviction and set it at an affordable price.

Alright, I’ll take my negative energy elsewhere :)

    19. Beth says:

Love them all, yet the Boomerang arm chairs are a favorite. Cannot wait to go shopping :)

    20. Heidi says:

Its all so beautiful but why is it always so expensive!

      • Lauryn says:

Made in the U.S.A., extremely high quality, super comfy, and absolutely gorgeous. While $1500 for a sofa is not chump change, compared to so many of the made-in-China-fall-apart-in-two-years sofas out there that are nearly as much, it’s a good deal. We view our Younger as an investment in American labor and the economy, as well as our home. My brother-in-law bought an $800 Corona from Macy’s and will likely need to replace it very soon (or live with a now uncomfortable sofa).

In short: you get what you pay for.

    21. Sara says:

We bought a Younger sectional at Somnia in Philly about 12 years ago. It was our first “adult” purchase (it was $1200). The Smith sectional on the website looks a lot like our current one, so I am guessing it is that one. Back then it was difficult to find any furniture that wasn’t huge and overstuffed. The sectional was a nice, reasonable size, efficient, and had tufted detail. It has now been 12 years and the darn thing has survived three young boys jumping on it incessantly, and a big dog. It has one long sitting cushion for each sectional component, and they are both more comfortable than our bed. In the time we have had our sectional we have had friends go through three ikea sofa sectionals. We also bought a Macy’s sofa about ten years ago, and the Younger has held up much better–the Macy’s has an indent in the center so you kind of slide to the center when you sit down. We are just now starting to look for a replacement, and have been so happy to see that others have “discovered” Younger. It is strange—we live two miles from the Room and Board outlet and various room and board stores but I couldn’t care less–we want another Younger. Hoping to find a retailer in the Minneapolis area or I may be traveling to Madison with a uhaul….

    22. Jamie says:

We purchased a Younger sofa at the beginning of this year and we LOVE it. It is extremely well made and very comfortable. We ended up going with a Customer’s Own Materials construction and providing a fabric we loved, but they do offer a lot of great fabric choices (we just had something specific in mind).

    23. Theo says:

We are very excited about the new Avenue 62 line from Younger Furniture. It fits our own personal style as well as our vintage store Lee Alex in Denver. Floor models should be in shortly.
