Entries now closed. And we have a confirmed winner: Congratulations, Steph, your number came up! Thanks, everyone, for playing! Katiedoodle and I are taking a little break for the rest of the week. We’re *working* — we’re just not filing blog posts. We’re getting out of our computer caves to prowl the *real* world for inspiration. So while we’re *away* — how about a giveaway? The first of the year. And it’s delicious: A set of New Old Stock, 1960s-era coasters of kitschy Paris scenes, poodles included, of course, from the retro-world famous World of Tile. Spotted and scarfed up by moi.
How to enter to win the New Old Stock Coasters that Pam bought up from World of Tile:
|

These are wonderful! In answer to your question, my current contribution to retro-renovating is we’re having VCT installed in a large portion of our house this week. I hope both of you enjoy your break from writing and come back next week with great stories to share!
What have *I* personally done to please the retro Gods (and the masses at large)???
1. Made sellers and RR fans VERY happy with my Etsy find of MCM lighting fixtures that were appreciated and bought up in true Retro Renovation Frenzy Style.
2. Made sellers and RR fans VERY happy with my Etsy find of vintage Wilsonart Formica tile key rings, that were appreciated and bought up in true Retro Renovation Frenzy Style.
Why do *I* deserve these??? Because I LIVE for coasters! I was raised in a house full of good furniture and you didn’t DARE set a drink on a surface without one. The more the better, I say!
These are very cute Pam, the pink, yellow and blues plus the art are just so darn happy!
*crosses fingers and hopes I win*
Respectfully submitted,
hannah
I really want to see the video you made about the coasters! They’re just my thing and I wonder if it would be sacrilegious to some how set them into my kitchen backsplash when I re-do my lovely but dysfunctional pink tiled counter and splash. I have to keep the pink theme to go with my turquoise stovetop and oven door, but want pink manufactured quartz or some sort of atomic Formica. Still researching for when the “budget” comes in…
I’ve been saving and using mid-century (and older) household goods my entire life. And now I have a lovely little late-50′s Cape Cod to show them off and use them in!
Well, I purchased some fantastic fifties wallpaper for my little ranch up in Maine! It was difficult to find something with gray and black to match the five foot high tile around the kitchen, that had red to match my chrome dinette chairs, and also pink and turquoise for the colors I like the best but I found one at Hannah’s and am thrilled! I have been collecting pink and turquoise kitchen and living room stuff for years now so these tiles are right up my alley, not to mention the family name is French (Canadian but still a French name)! Just hope the Random Generator Gods smile on me!
FYI saw the commercial twice – no video — not my entry for the contest
Well I don’t know if I have really done anything to deserve them…. Well I take that back, I’ve been working 2 years on making my unique roundhouse as beautiful as it deserves to be. I had to rescue it from a bad roof, drainage issues, and overall filth, but really it’s a joy to do.
On a non retro side note, I lost my pet parrot on valentine’s day. I’ve had him for 15 years (since I was 10 years old!) he was my baby, my brother and my best friend and I’ve been crying everyday without him. Anyone who’s ever been close to a bird will understand, those big personalities in such a little body, charm their way into your heart forever.
I am so sorry, Sarah g., I’ve never had a bird, but have had many pets who’s passing left a huge hole in my heart. Much love to you.
Pink and poodles?!I may faint! Im moving into my very own midcentury home next month and those coaster would be such a nice housewarming gift to start me out on my decorating adventure.Love this site!I stumbled upon it while researching some chairs and now I have a full blown addiction.
Oooo la la! These coasters would be divine hanging on the wall of my wish-it-were-pink bathroom. I’m pink-ifying it with accessories and with poodles. Winning them would be magnifique.
Live in a midcentury house and am slowly but surely convincing friends to do likewise! I have madame and monsieur napkin rings that the coasters would be a-mazing with!
I think I deserve these amazing French coasters because I spent one semester in France a zillion years ago, and I miss it. What would be better than sitting on my newly acquired rusty orange velvet MCM couch, curled up under my granny square afghan and drinking cafe au lait while staring at my French coasters and thinking about those wonderful times? Nothing. I hope I win!!!
Since I live in an apartment, there’s not much I can currently do. But, in my old home, I saved some kitchen cabinets from destruction and installed them into my own kitchen. Plus, I really would like to win these coasters.
The Vintage Thrifting Gods were kind enough to lead me to a free box at a yard sale last summer where I found an old stamped pillowcase that had never been embroidered. It was stained by time, but the design of two little birds and their birdhouse was wonderful, so I took it home. Only to find I’d de-cluttered every vestige of embroidery threads and hoops. The pillowcase languished until the VTG encouraged a friend to give me the bag of embroidery stuff that had been her mother’s, who died over 20 years ago. The project in the bag dates to the Sixties!
Now that I had everything I needed I brushed off my (very vintage) embroidery skills and honored the VTG by completing the design on the pillowcase. An oxy soak took care of the stains, and my new-old-stock project graces the pillow I slept on last night.
Unfortunately, I don’t live in a MCM house though I do love the style. But my master bath is painted “Paris Pink” and those coasters would look great hanging on the wall. I love your site and wish I did have a midcentury house. You showcase so many FAB houses and furnishings. Hopefully one day…
Hello! We are closing on our mid-century modest east coast brick ranch next week, so I would love these for a housewarming present!
In answer to your question, we are saving a pink bathroom!
Hmmm, lately, I’ve been rescuing vintage appliances and light fixtures (1963 stove and a 1963 dryer). We’ve also gone forth and spread the word of vintage, namely selling my family and extend family on vintage appliances (we’ve sold them on the superiority of vintage vacuums).
These are my current contributions to the world of retro.
These are adorable! I don’t know if I could bring myself to use them, tho.
I really don’t deserve these priceless vintage coasters – they are too good for my sloppy family of 5 who would rather leave rings on the furniture. BUT WANT NOW!
To please the Retro Decorating Deities, I found a free, hand made 1980s walnut chair frame, with Danish lines, that needed new support straps & cushion. I carefully removed the old, nylon, fraying straps, cleaned up the frame, tightened the joins, and stapled in new jute straps!
I am currently stalking this fabric for a new cushion & matching cornices in my 1956 living room:

Very cute find. I think my favorite comment in the video is that you have 8 sets and yet find it hard to part with one! I am sure we all can relate to this feeling. Keep up your good work. All I do, really, is enjoy the retro design followers you showcase! I do look at design in a very different way than I used to. I love the “love the house you are in” quote.
Because they match my kitchen! I would probably find a way to display them- uber, duber cute!!
I have been trying really, really hard to redecorate our modest 1950s home. I’m researching VCT flooring for our knotty pine den, I’m trying to work with our new not-what-I’d-have-picked kitchen cabinets, I’m looking at paints, we’re uncovering wood floors. The problem is we don’t have much money and we can only get to work on a project when my poor husband has vacation time – he doesn’t even have proper weekends! These coasters would be beautiful in my living room, which is our one finished room. Please.
I love love love these! I deserve to win these because I close on my very first mid century/post war home, built in 1952, next week and will be doing my darndest to help the house recover from 1970′s and 80′s renovations! These coasters could be the very first step in recovery!
I just love the coasters! I think I would like to make a wall decoration from them If I win!!!
I went to the flea market the other day and rescued a Royal Haeger Swan. I also found a replacement for a very old sugar bowl for my Mother. She loved the original sugar bowl and was still using it even though the handle was broken. I can’t wait to surprise her with the new one. I think my mother and the Retro Gods will be very happy.
Don’t know where to begin.. saved a MCM ranch (1949) in 2002 and have spent the past eleven years rehabilitating it into a home!
This summer I will be refurbishing my original Crestview door, which thanks to you Pam, I was able to convince my husband to save. We salvaged some reed glass from original Levittown homes (PA) and will attempt to use it when restoring the door.
Hmmm….well let me see…these coasters would just bling my 50′s shelving unit right up! please please!
Those are so cute! I’m glad that y’all are taking a working holiday. Sometimes it just good to get out there and remember why you do what you do. I’ve pleased the gods lately by sticking with my “gonna keep this house original if it kills me” motto even though contractors tried to lure me in with “you can get all new cabinets under your insurance policy” – those would be great for resale one day. But not great for my heart.
These coasters would be the perfect thing to keep moisture off my mid-mod round-with tapered legs coffee table that I scored for $20 in a woodworking shop! I put a coat of shellac on it and it’s perfect for our done-ourselves mid-mod living room makeover. Cheap is great but free (as in winning stuff) is even greater!
What have you done to please the Retro Decorating Gods lately:
The 50′s ranch house across the street from me was recently renovated. Unfortunately the renovators were tearing out all the old fixtures and cool vintage stuff. Every night I would check their dumpster to see what goodies they had thrown out. I rescued a blue cast iron bathroom sink and blue Rheem toilet. I plan on installing them in my 1956 ranch house blue bathroom. We still have the original tile, but someone put in a new toilet and sink.
My husband and I are in the middle of renovating a 1960s era Streamline camper trailer to use as my crafting studio. These would be just the perfect thing to add to my decor!
Oh, these are stunning! I would love to have these to protect my Heywood-Wakefield coffee table from drink stains.
While I’m usually buying retro for my house, I recently freecycled an old record/8-track player console to a woman who was madly in love with it. The record player stopped working, and she was going to have a new one put in (or turn that spot into a plant stand). Putting some retro-karma out into the universe!
Why do I need these? Well. Where will I put my drink on my new, free-to-me vintage 1950s BLACK and PINK dinette set scored off of Craigslist. And YES, given to us by a wonderful person who just wanted it to be used. FOR.FREE! The Retro Gods have been looking out for us!
I wouldn’t want to get a water ring on THAT, now, would I?
Pam, I am loving your blog, it has given me a new appreciation for many things mid-century. Since I grew up in the 50′s and 60′s lots of things look very familiar. My current home is a 1921 bungalow and it is the newest house I have ever had.
My biggest contribution to retro recently was stripping at least 10 layers of paint and repainting the original cabinets in my kitchen. Now I know why so many people tear them out and start over! I figure they will be good for another 90 years now and they are beautiful! I put marmoluem on the floor and I love it. It is a huge improvement on the poorly laid vinyl that was there when I bought the house.
I love the colors of the coasters, they are so cute!
I have been rehabbing (and living in ) a house, getting it back to it’s retro awesomeness, for seven years, believe me, that’s not easy…these cool coaster would sure make me happy.
I would not say deserve them BUT, I really WANT them. Reason: My grandmother was from Paris and also the reason I have lots of awesome mid century decor and furniture in my house. Plus, the illustration LOOKS like her! I kid you not. She was very stylish and taught me what it was to be a classy woman. When she passed away in 2004, I was very upset. I inherited her rattan porch furniture and a good deal of MCM decor and proudly displayed them in my house. It started a nearly 10 year obsession with MCM and had lead to a very stylish Mid Mod home over the years. I would love to have these on my round, walnut Lane coffee table in my front room with her Rattan set (which is actually a close ballet pink color that is in these coasters!)
I love Retro Renovation and would love to have the coasters because wet cups leave marks on my grandparents’ mid-century dining set that I have!
I’ve appeased the retro decorating gods as of late by re-tooling my entire living room into something Don Draper would easily feel at home in: MCM sofa and loveseat in a masculine teensy herringbone tweed, Orla Kiely-inspired throw pillows, and the piece de resistance: a glorious MidMod honey-colored buffet which will house the entertainment center. The coasters will complete the picture, displayed upon the clear glass-topped boomerang table (with the planter underneath!). Pam, I thank you for doing what you do!
Oh I love these! They remind me of my shower curtain in my vintage pink bathroom. I think you may have posted this shower curtain once. Its Paris typed. J’adore Paris, Retro Renovation AND these coasters!!!
It’s not for me…it’s for my daughter, who is leaving for college in the Fall. She has pleased the Retro Gods by wearing vintage sweaters made by her great-great aunties, and a vintage, early-60′s era dress to homecoming one year. Plus, it would be an inspiring start to her college/adult decor.
It’s a family tradition: I pleased the same gods by salvaging 30 feet of vintage wrought-iron fencing off the side of the road and designed around it as deck railing on a new deck, and it totally goes with the house. The new deck also has a wonderful kitchen cabinet that I salvaged out of a garage, and it’s used for recycling and deck storage.
I deserve these because I have never had a set of coasters before… and they’re uber cute
My recent mid century contribution to my house…….a set of 4 mint green plastic school lunch trays from the 1950s. (Very cool in the kitchen) Also a 1954 porcelain enamel sign advertising mens dress shirts in West Germany.
I love the coasters and would really like to have them. I collect old kitchen things and theses would fit in perfectly
We just purchased our first MCM home! WE ADORE every inch of it!! Both my husband and I both love collecting and using vintage housewares and unique furniture finds. In the big picture, we are just getting started!! Love your site for inspirations!!
To please the Retro Decorating Gods, a small group of volunteers and I started the Tulsa Art Deco Museum in Tulsa, OK. Check it out at http://www.tulsaartdecomuseum.com. Our mission is to preserve, educate and promote Art Deco right here in Tulsa, OK. We are located in the lobby of the historic Philcade Building, and we set up rotating window displays in that lobby, featuring Art Deco home decor items, utilitarian items, building fixtures, etc. Many of our items have been discarded by others, and are preserved in our collection, but others are loaned by local collectors. Right now, we are working on a 1920s bathroom window, featuring colorful sinks and other bathroom fixtures that have been removed from Art Deco bathrooms right here in Tulsa during “renovations.” We are all volunteers raising money, running the museum and raising money from small private donations.
I painstakingly ungrouted, cleaned, and reinstalled all the yellow salt and pepper tile in my 1958 bathroom! And since I am currently in the middle of a remodel of that bathroom, I have no money to go to Paris. None. So if I win these coasters, I will sit in my new bathroom drinking coffee and remembering when I was there in 2004. Before 2 kids and my MC colonial ranch took all my money! They’re worth every penny though!
These coasters are so totally me! I had prints almost identical to these at one time, and I gave to a friend as a gift (she so totally coveted them), thinking I would find more, but I never did. These coasters would fill that void in my life!
These coasters would perfectly compliment my new-found vintage ceiling light with gorgeous etchings, which I had my darling install over my vintage diner set. Living in a 1772 colonial, I need all the mid century pieces I can get to live my vintage dreams!
These would look fabulous in our basement Retro Lounge. Our original ’50s furniture, complete with modular end tables, cries out for these beautiful coasters!
I raised my son to appreciate cool stuff & world travel. Last year he bought an apt. in a 1915 building and is collecting beautiful modern furniture in teak & walnut, decorating in retro style with an artifact flair. He loves Paris and these coasters would protect his incoming surfboard style coffee table. Enjoy you on FB!
Okay, I got this! I need those coasters for the new/old perfect condition (and I need to keep them that way), MCM coffee table and side table that I bought yesterday (without telling my husband, but they were a steal!). We bought a ’56 ranch about three years ago and every chance I get to rescue/ stash things for it, I take it. I also got a sofa with it. He’s going to kill me! Oh, I’m also going to be rescuing some retro-tastic light fixtures from my cousin’s old farmhouse she just recently acquired. Get this, not one but two pull down retractable saucer lights…in perfect condition. I can’t wait! Soooo, pick me!
Coasters? With pink and poodles and Paris? AAA- must haves! Save my booyutiful retro-furniture from terrible ring marks!
I love the coasters! I have purchased a mid-century home, and am trying to fill it with mid-century decor. I have some fabric that closely matches the coasters, and used it to re-upholster the stool in my kitchen.
1. I “deserve” them because I think they’re fabulous, they would look great in our retro recroom (kinda match the “party curtains”), and the only way my partner would ever let me acquire them would be if I won them in a contest!
2. I “pleased the Retro gods” yesterday when I rescued a vintage Preway fireplace from a colleague’s home that she was going to chuck in a dumpster (she’s gutting a really charming MCM ranch). I hope to use it in our master bedroom addition (renovation pending).
3. Something “happy and nice”? Your website makes me think, smile, and reflect on how truly happy I am in “the home I’m in”, every day.
Oh, so jealous… a Preway and you rescued it!! Sweet!
I deserve these because I won’t buy a house in which the (pink) bathrooms have been renovated to showcase the entire tile section of Home Depot. We’ve now turned down 6 houses.
I am a historic preservationist by education and profession. I have devoted my life to preserving historic architecture, and mid-century architecture is my favorite. I absolutely love the coasters and would lovingly display them in my home. They will be taken care of.
Oh, these are so cute!!! Like many of the others, I’m not sure I “deserve” them, but I DO love them, and they would be perfectly at home with us. We have a 1941 home and have returned the kitchen and bathroom (which had been redone in a gaggy European spa style) to that wonderful time period, and most of our furnishings are Heywood Wakefield eBay finds. Most importantly, I think, is that we USE everything. These beautiful Parisian coasters would hold martinis, sidecars, and Bellinis served, of course, in vintage glasses–also found on eBay.
Reading some of the other posts it’s hard to compete. I just love them and mid century design. Thanks
I deserve these because I saved a 1954 house from “investors” purchasing it and remuddling it. I not only am preserving the retro-ness of the current state of the house, but am embellishing on it also. Plans are to replace the brownish colored tile in the kitchen with pink and to update without making it modern. Make the entire house feel that you’re still in 1954 but with the convenience of the 2000s. These coasters would go into our existing pink bathroom that is decorated with a Paris poodle motif. I think displaying them on the wall would be fab!
Now for something mushy and nice … I LOVE LOVE LOVE your website. I think I visit at least once a day to look for tips and ideas that I can use in my own house. I don’t know what I’d do without you!
Your art is so cool! And, good for you to save a house from the investors and their horrid remuddles inside and out…it’s prevalent here where there are more renters and renters for their businesses! All their work vans crowded in the driveway & street…feeling like it is gonna really force us to leave our vintage house.
Hi Pam!
These coasters combine my three favorite things: pink, retro, and Paris! They will go really well with the vintage images of Paris I’ve collected from estate sales to decorate my 1941 Cape. My latest offering to the decor gods was the installation of vintage shelf edging and a beautiful red and white c.1940s spoon holder in my kitchen, and I’m currently working on something epic for the risers on my staircase.
Cheers!
We are restoring a 1920′s bungalow using mission furniture & a HEAVY dose of MCM. We have found that the simplicity in design & scale of BOTHstyles blend well together.
Someone did a botched 1980′s remodel of our bathroom & we are using 1947 American Standard Ming Green fixtures there, tho a second sinks search is eluding us. Our basement finishing will include a second small kitchen/bar using St. Charles cabinets. Included in this rodel will be a turquoise dishwasher & refrigerator that were destined for a landfill. We also have a stainless steel Flair stove (think Samantha Stevens) that we will use there.
These coasters will be FABULOUS in our bar & go nicely with my collection of vintage Tiki Glasses
My husband and I closing on our first house on Monday. It’s a super funky mid-century modern. (There are some pictures on my blog.) We need to get a collection of cool accessories to do the house justice and these are perfect! I would love to have these.
Very nice video! I deserve these coasters because:
A. they would be a great reminder to my trip to Paris in ’99 (I have a great bad tooth/needed a dentist in Paris story) and I love all things 60s.
B. I am in the process of feeding the retro gods by stockpiling a soon-to-be-donation stash of some fairly nice vintage stuff that I hope someone else will covet as much as I have.
C. as I look around my home, realize that 95% of my furniture has been acquired second hand and it makes me feel good.
I need to win these because……They’re perfect, PERFECT I tell you, for my house! In homage to my great-grandmother, who was a world traveler, I’ve included all sorts of vintage 50s and 60s travel souvenirs and items from all over the world. I’m even working on finishing her travel scrapbook…that she was still adding to well into her 80′s! These would be the perfect complement to many other ‘Paris’ themed items throughout my mid mod!
Wonderful coasters! Let’s see what have I done to please the retro gods? My small MCM ranch is full of vintage finds I’ve pulled together from ebay, etsy, thrift stores and craigslist. I’m also working, slowly, to turn my outdoor space into a MCM inspired yard while also making it more drought tolerant (I live in the blinding hot state of Texas). One day I hope to save enough money to redo my small kitchen and your website has been a wonderful place to start pulling ideas together. I don’t know if I deserve the coasters (more than anyone else) but I have a special place in my heart for MCM kitsch (I have many pink flamingo thingies) LOL
I knew the pool house was lacking one thing & here it is!! Those coasters are wonderful! So fun (just like the pool house), so period (just like the pool house), & such great colors (just like the pool house)! The pool house would be the perfect home!
I have appeased the Almighty Gods of VINTAGE Decorating on a daily basis since 1998. I’ve only lived in period time capsules and have helped preserve their authenticity by ONLY decorating in period-correct decor. No reproduction or modern furnishings, using only the proper color schemes from that era. The 1950s/1960s are alive and well in Tayvaland! To push it even further, we relocated to Palm Springs not long ago… the land where our style and views are embraced, not snubbed!
I do think these coasters would go lovely with my gigantic collection of vintage barware. I promise, if I win, I will invite everyone over for cocktails, so we can properly test them out!
I collect poodles, I adore this fifties Paris style, I lived in Paris, I speak French, and I worship the Retro Decorating Gods every day. My life will be one step closer to perfection with these magical coasters! Or our poodle room will be closer to perfection, at least.
Wow. Those coasters remind me of the very cool shower curtain my mom had. It was black with bubbles and pink poodles on it. Sigh…I love pink poodles. Anyway, the coasters evoke a sense of what Paris would have been like for a tourist back then. I guess I would deserve them because I would love them and show them off on the MC coffee table that the previous left behind. It was in a horrible state and I restored.
Because I loooooooooooooooooooooooooove them!!
I don’t have any creative answer to give as to why I deserve these coasters other than Retro Renovation is my favorite site..I love all things vintage/retro..I don’t condsider myself a collector because I rarely have extra money to buy very much so when I come across something I love It is truly a treasure to me. I also love everything you post and I would love and cherish these coasters!
I deserve them, because:
#1) I took French lessons for 5 years
#2) per the fireplace pictures last week – I was looking for something to put over my big red brick fireplace. – I put up a paint by # picture, that was hiding in my garage. Now my mantel looks complete.
I don’t necessarily deserve these, but my coffee tables deserve to be free of water rings.
The Retro Design Gods will be please to know that I am freshening up my basement and will preserve the original bar, panneling, dropped ceiling and square flushmount lights. There’s nothing you can’t do with a tube of caulk and a can of paint!
The coasters would look right at home on my Wolfgang Hoffmann bev cart turned coffee table (scored for $80), while I lounge with my feet propped on my spiffed up Thermos aluminum ice chest/footstool, admiring my shiny, re-vinyled Cosco stool (child’s play to some, but my 1st time with vinyl & did darn good!), and recently homemade pillows in bay window incuding one fashioned from one of Grandpa’s old Hawaiin shirts. I could go on, but that run-on sentence went on long enough
It’s a crayola cottage vintage explosion in here, but I did it & I love it!
I may or may not deserve them, but I’d love to have them because they are beautiful and because they remind me of the simpler time when I was growing up.
I love that you are using a random number generator to pick the winner. I used a random letter generator to pick the first letter of each of my daughter’s names. Sometimes leaving things for the cosmos to decide makes life a lot easier.
I pleased the retro renovating gods by using my HAIRDRYER and HOURS and HOURS of scrubbing and peeling to remove dark brown wood-grain Contac paper from the surfaces of my white Geneva cabinets, and I replaced the peeling vinyl kitchen floor with black and white vinyl tile, and I have loved my little pre-fab for 30 years. Pick me!
Aw, the coasters are too darn sweet…I can’t resist Mid-century graphics/illustrations! To find vintage functional illustrations like these coasters is awesome…but, I’d probably frame them if I was lucky enough to win so they didn’t get broken. They sure would match my French poodle towel I hand embroidered from one of my vintage patterns.
I am a lover of tile and when we re-do the kitchen’s current ’80s tiles I am most likely going to re-tile. To me tile is very California and I want to stick with that tile/pottery history…wouldn’t it be great to have these graphic tiles reproduced, oh wow! I am imagining that now scattered on the backsplash. Mid century illustration motifs on tiles!…I have a couple old recipe boxes with stylized food that would be cool to see in tiles.
Tile is also very forgiving of my messy glue gun, sloppy craft painting…I never have to worry about that.
I hope I make the Retro Decorating Gods happy all the time with my frequent visits to the goodwill/salvation army stores (by buying from there I feel I am helping)…but lately, let’s see, two weeks ago I spotted a mahogany 4 poster pineapple bed from the ’50s and even ‘tho I didn’t need a new bed I suddenly wanted this one even ‘tho it is only a full, which is good for our small br. And, I am NOT going to paint it. In fact, I am embracing the dark wood antiques that I have inherited and keeping their integrity…I just balance them with the light colored walls, fabrics. Maybe, I am so “over” seeing people on other blogs ruin beautiful wood antiques with paint (‘tho I think cheapy, damaged furniture is ok to paint).
This is so generous of you, Pam (and, really love that you make these videos to personalize the blog more)…I’d have a hard time parting with them, too.
Theyre cute, classy, & a great addition to having the girls over for a treat! Adorable & priceless…need I say more ?
I need them for my vintage bar!!!! Plus, this is my favorite blog
I deserve these coasters because I have been working hard on renovating my vintage ’59 Shasta travel trailer and these would look fabulous as part of my decor!
Retro Gods, to the horror of my children, and husband I have climbed into garbage cans, through windows into condemned houses, and picked through smelly dumps, all to rescue your dirtiest, most broken down treasures and return them to sparkling glory! Please poodle me!
I need those fabulous coasters becuase the brand new retro sofa I had been waiting for for over a month finally arrived yesterday with 2 huge water stains, a rip and missing pillows!!! so now I sit all alone in my little apartment watching TV on a little chair waiting for a new couch with no defects to arrive someday!!!. Those cute little coaster would go perfectly with my new couch……when I finally get to sit on it!!!!
I love those coasters! They would be a great addition to my coaster collection – mostly aluminum- that I use everyday- in my 1965 California Rancher (located in Maryland). I still have the original stovetop and double oven in the kitchen with my wonderful St Charles cabinets.
I have picked out a great turquoise paint color for my kitchen and coral for my dining room that I can’t wait to start on. And these coasters would be sooooo cute on my great little mid century tiered corner laminate table that I found at a garage sale.
Those coasters are amazing. In late November I purchased a small condo in an Art Deco building in Louisville, Kentucky. I re-did the kitchen w/seafoam green metal cabinets & decorated using furniture that belonged to me or my family. A long Drexel coffee table sits in the living room in need of coasters.
The thing is…I work in Paris, France most of the year, so these coasters would be ideal to have in my Louisville condo. If you choose me to win, I’d be very excited indeed!
Why I would use them on the Adrian Pearsall tables in the living room. which thanks to RR and AR I know the who and what about them. But truthfully I would give them to my sister who would love them just because they evoke Paris.
Now for the mushy suck-up: I love RR and can’t stand to let a day go by without taking a look because I might miss some fabulous retro porn courtesy of your faithful readers.
Hey Ladies,
I’m not sure if I deserve the coasters or not, I can have a naughty side.
But I would love to have them for in my retro livingroom. You girls rock, keep up the great work..
My mother-in-law has had a beautiful pair of side chairs since her days in her swinging bachelorette pad in the 50s. They have a gorgeous off-white leather seats & backs, and sleek brass arms and black legs. We’ve joked for years with her about how much we covet them. Out of the blue, she just gifted us one of them, with the promise of the other soon to come. We’ve already spent hours deciding on the perfect location, conditioning the leather, and oiling the wood.
These adorable coasters would be a perfect complement!
Those coasters are INCREDIBLE. So ME! *swoon*
Hmm…what have I done? Well, until we are able to get an actual mid-century home of our own (we are looking), I’m busy embracing our Cape Cod style home in lovely Massachusetts.
How am I embracing it? Well, we’ve filled it with mid-century furniture and accessories that I’ve been collecting for years and we’re in the midst of redoing out mid 90s kitchen to embrace the Cape style and work with all of the mid-century lovelies we have! Everything has to work without our Franciscan and Blue Heaven collections. Swank!
Add to that my ridiculous collection of vintage textiles and you can see what a deserving reader I am. Mid mod, for the win!!
sitting in my !953 cape cod dreaming of PARIS….
I’d like to give these to one of my oldest and dearest friends who desperately wants them!
O.K I don’t know that I DESERVE them but OMG they are so amazing I would love and cherish them!!! Please, please I hope you pick me
My wife and I have been working hard at creating a fantastic MCM familyroom of our own. My inlaws had a time capsule house and when they downsized were generous enough to give us some great pieces to springboard our collection. These coasters would look fantastic on our boomerang coffee table and provide a fantastic connection and memory to my mother inlaw who loved to travel and ofcourse Paris!
We bought our house 7 years ago and have not changed one thing except removed the carpets to expose the hardwoods underneath and painted over the lead-based paint. We bought it from the original owner and he made the entire house himself, including some questionably fashionable light fixtures which we have keep only for their originality! All wallpaper and tile are original and I have a wooden shim under my pink toilet in the master bath because the floor has shifted but I cannot bear to get rid of the toilet or floor tile!
I deserve these coasters because they will fill a new for continued retroness in my life!!
My husband and I have a vintage home, built in 1895, but we truly love the eras up to the 1960′s ( after that, they’re just not, ahem, in our opinion, very cool looking). We certainly have a mishmash in our home of the different decades, and these would be perfect in our living room, dahling!!!
The happiest year of my life was when we lived in Paris in 99-00. And, I just redid the kitchen in my 1963 house, kept all of the knotty pine (and added some), and put in a fabulous turquoise tile backsplash to go with my collection of Fiesta (persimmon and turquoise).
These are AMAZING! Look at that prancing poodle! I am in love with both the painter and the accordion man. These coasters fit in with both of my current fixations – vintage poodles AND vintage french stuff. Having them would make me so happy!
Oh, they are darling! I’d never set a drink on them, though. I can see them grouped on the wall, shining for all to see.
Beautiful Coasters! Having those in my home would make me the happiest of women! Thanks for the terrific contest (and amazing blog!)
My daughter’s favorite city to visit is Paris, and she loves this type of vintage artwork….the perfect gift for her. Thanks for doing a fun give-a-way!
I have fond memories of my mom’s (60′s) wallpaper that had Parisian cafe scenes much like these coasters. Grey with pink & blue. My own home has a pink & blue bathroom, which is how I found this lovely site.
Ooooooh la la! Tres jolie pour mes verres!
Wow those look amazing! These would look great in some of the homes I’ve seen! As well as mine!
Can’t think of why I might “deserve” them……but I sure would be excited to win these adorable coasters.
I don’t know if I “deserve” them, but I did just buy several cases of coral-pink VCT tile for my kitchen, and these would look cool in there. Nothing says “A man lives here” better than a pink kitchen adorned with artsy poodle coasters.
Those look gorgeous! Pick me!
My husband and I just switched out a broken 80s ceiling fan for a George Nelson Saucer pendant lamp. That should please the Retro Decorating Gods pretty well, don’t you think?? *crossing fingers*
The one with the poodle pushed me over the edge. I REALLY need these.
Love them! These would go great on mom’s old coffee table that I painted blue, then white crackle finished(first time trying it), and embellished with irridescent blue beads, and sealed with clear coat that had a drop of gold added for ‘age”. Shabby chic vintage indeed
Dear Retro Gods: We are gearing up for a bathroom remodel. We will be salvaging the glass bricks from the shower window (a source of mold, but not privacy) and using them to build a back-splash behind the sink. And yes, it will be illuminated from behind for not only light but also extra awesomeness. I hope I am worthy…Betsy
Because I love Paris! Because I am looking at you blog when I should be paying attention in my immigration law seminar! Because they would look perfect in the bar in my 1965 MCM house!
Ah-mazing coasters! And yes, yes, yes, I think I deserve them – here’s why:
1. I am opening a new etsy vintage store that – hopefully starting next week – will carry some equally amazing cool things.
2. My dogs ATE MY COASTERS just this week. Really.
I’m throwing my hat into the ring but pretty much leaving it up to the fates to decide. I’ve done a lot to preserve my home but I know there are those who have done more than I. I sure would like to win them, though
Why should I get the coasters? Well I’m moving into a new place down in San Diego proper and I finally have a reason to redo retro! I’ve never really been able to before, never had the money or the opportunity to. I just wished really hard that I could.
Now I can, and I think those coasters would be perfect! And I think my daughter would love looking at the pictures.
they’re beautiful!! and i just submitted full draft on my thesis that i’ve been working on for over a year.
deserving enough?
Good thing you are using randomly generated numbers since I am going to blaspheme by saying that I don’t believe in any retro decorating gods. The coasters would look good with my estate sale Paris watercolor pictures on my sunporch, however.
Wow! Those are so wonderful!! I am redoing our master bedroom in a vintage Parisian theme, complete with old French lingerie ads. It is so fun. Those coaster would be perfect!
I believe I deserve the adorable coasters because I have appeased the Retro Decorating Gods by doing the following in the past week alone:
1. Saved a 1950 Crane Sunnyday double drainboard sink and Ampco metal cabinet from destruction
2. Saved a 1950 Crystal chandelier from the fate of a Goodwill drop off bin
3. Saved and recovered a vintage Cosco yellow kitchen step chair
4. Saved and repainted a vintage metal kitchen cart
5. Saved a pink bathroom from the sledgehammer
6. Imparted the wisdom that vintage is always better than construction grade light fixtures
I have hopefully taught a “we buy houses” flipper guy that there is value in keeping the original well made items in the homes he buys. “Historical” is a term to be used with mid century homes too… not just 100 year old homes.
PLUS… MY kitchen is vintage 1955 done in pastel pinks, blues, yellows and grays!!! These coasters would be PERFECT for my home!!!
party pooper
It’s not really because I’ve done anything fabulous decor wise, but I reallllllllyyyyyyyyyyyyy neeeeeeeeeeeeeed these coasters to make me feel better. We lost a bidding war for the 1962 split level ranch, (that our realtor assured us had no interest from anyone except us), and I’m heartbroken. Those coasters would totally soothe my hurt feelings!
These would be a great thank you gift from the retro loving community for all my hard work. I have dedicated my spare time to creating vintage reproduction chalkware and selling it at a reasonable price so everyone can own a little piece of the past.
My daughter deserves these coasters becasue they would look perfect in her vintage Parisian themed room in our Mid Century home – after the repair to the vintage plumbing that has required completely gutting her room for the second time in a year and a half.
Retro Renovation has decorated my home, really! My husband blames you, Retro Renovation, for the stress we experienced while hanging pinch pleats on all our windows! We love them! Then he wanted to surprise me with mid-century coasters to protect our new step table. He went to a garage sale and brought home the UGLIEST coasters I’ve ever seen! They are a fake miniature encyclopedia set. If I win these beautiful Paris coasters, it would be a great excuse to replace our current set of without hurt feelings. Thanks for all your inspiration throughout the years!
I “need” those coasters to go with my vintage painting in the gold frame of Paris, which I “took” from my friend and do not want to part with!!!
Read your wonderful blog everyday!!! have a nice time at the re-store!
and an addition for the the decorating “gods”, my husband removed a 1957 greenish crane toliet – an oxford – with the original labels. Want to clean it up and find a re-store for it. No chips on the lid, tank or base. Replaced with a ADA compliant, watersense toilet. Hated to, but the seal was leaking between the tank and the base – yes I know I could have purchased a flushmaster kit, but my husband wanted a higher toilet.
The guy at Lowes told me to “dispose of the toliet”, but not ready to do so if it can find a new home.
Hello Pam,
Love these coasters & your blog, that goes without saying, but I’m saying it anyways…
We (my retro/MCM crazed husband & I) *deserve* these lovely coasters because we just saved an original 1956 time capsule house from demolition. I will be sending you photos when work commences next week. Included in our amazing time capsule house is completely original everything, paneling, fireplace, kitchen, a pink & green tile bathroom, terrazzo, & mosaic tile!!! Also in the kids wing, there is an original textolite aqua laminate vanity in the blue tile bathroom….It simply the most beautiful place we have ever seen & cannot believe that others in the neighborhood were lobbying to knock this retro beauty down.
These coasters will have a place of honor in our new home, right on our original wavy textured glass cocktail bar room divider in the living room….& of course, I will share pics for you & fellow readers to see them in their glory (if we win).
Love you & THANK YOU for sharing all your wonderful knowledge. Your blog has helped us TREMENDOUSLY in finding resources to RESTORE this home.
Been working way too much lately and had to pick up extra work due to a colleague being out on medical leave, so my retrorenovations are on hold for now. The coasters would really be a small way to get my retro fix.
Hi PAM and KATE!
Bonjour from Toronto, where it’s really cold tonight. Those coasters cheered me right up after a tough day at work. Why do I deserve these fab boho Paree coasters? Moi? Because Feb 25 is my birthday, LOL. (along with George Harrison, but I’m sure he doesn’t need them in rock’ n’roll heaven) .They remind me of my art school aspirations to be an Artiste. Maybe it’s not too late, after all. Any way, love the blog, visit EVERY day, consider me entered!!!
I love coasters and have them in every room in order to protect my vintage retro wood furniture. These coasters would add more retro flair to my place.Do either of you speak French or could I fool you with some fake French? French kiss, French fry, French door…that is the extent of my French!!!
OMG…not sure I “deserve” them, but honestly…I want them…I’m throwing my hat into the ring and keeping my fingers crossed…and sending a little prayer the the Renovation Gods… :0)
This is my favorite blog. I am relatively new to the mid century world–where would I be without Retro Renovation?
I went to Paris for the first time for my big birthday last year. These would be a fun reminder of that amazing trip!
They would look wonderful in my super girly kitchen, complete with window valances made out of Michael Miller’s Paris de ville fabric – or in my adjoining knotty pine “club room” with my vintage souvinir plate collection.
According to my former neighbor, who was an original owner in this 50s subdivision, the knotty pine rooms were marketed as “club rooms.” More fun then calling them a family room.
In the 50s I had a gray felt circle skirt with black Eiffel Tower & pink poodle appliques. I’m now gray and don’t wear skirts much, but love and have many 20th century design accents in my home. These coasters are the bomb. I’m throwing my hat in the ring.
Ok, I was going to try to think of something to say so as to be in the running for the coasters, but then I read the entry from Jenny Penny and the house, no PALACE, they saved and I say give ‘em the coasters! And I’ll be looking forward to reading their story.
Bonjour Pam!
I am a lover of all things Parisian! Combine that with my love of MCM and these coasters are perfect for moi! I have noticed lately that my current coasters with a fleur-de-lis on them do not go with my developing retro decorating theme. Rest assured if I win these lovely coasters they will have a place of honor on my coffee table and end tables!
Merci,
Lisa
I’ve been mid century obsessed since I was 18! Now I’m 45 and my home is filled to the brim with furniture and TV lamps like the one I just won on eBay (link below). If I won these coasters, they’d have a loving home <3 http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=221188727525
My sister in law just gave me the world’s most beautiful TRASHCAN!! Retro and floral… She happens to love Paris.. Giving these beautiful coasters to her would remind her that I LOVE her!
I would love these coasters! I love and breathe retro home — and these would be fab on my coffee table!!
LOVE your site and enjoy the newsletter updates!
I would love to win these coasters! I would surprise a wonderful sweet friend with an unexpected gift. She loves anything pink and dreams of another trip to Paris. They would make her smile and giggle and that would make my day!
I recently sold my 1977 Honda Accord to a Japanese car collector, does that count? I like to sell my cars for more than I paid for them.
I purchased a Hamilton Beach stand mixer for $2 last week: and rescued the beaters from certain oblivion on another shelf in the store.
My new Formica samples just arrived, and the coasters would look really nice on the red sample. Love the primary colors.
I love vintage, this blog, winning (which I rarely do), and these coasters – there!
The former owners of our house took out all the original, interesting details that made our 1880s rowhouse, well, interesting. I have a plan to include some of those beautiful characteristics of an old house BACK into our home in future renovations and remodels.
I would love them because I am about to move into my grandmother’s 1960-era rowhome and would LOVE to add some more mid-century home decor!
Erika
Because I promised myself I will live in Paris one day, and I feel this is really a kick start in that direction.
xxo.
I will continue to scold people on bathroom remodeling, even if I don’t win!
I think that perhaps in another life I was Parisian. I yearn to live there and just absorb the sights, smells, and textures…..but in the event that does not happen at least I would have this beautiful momento…coasters of my beloved Paris…maybe it would suffice, doubtful but….
PS do you know Henri Le Chat Noir, I kind of sound like his “ennui”
Hubby and I relocated to a little town in Wisconsin and bought a very neglected little home that had been built in the early 1900′s and redone in the 50′s. We are “retro renovating” it back to it’s mid-century makeover period, including repanelling the living room. That’s right, repanelling it. This is entirely a DYI project, done exclusively pay as you go (no debt for this couple), which means we are off to the races like a herd of turtles. We used a toaster oven and paper plates for 6 months *sniffle *sob *sniffle. So I’ve said all that to say this. How delightful it would be to sit down on our latest acquisition (a 1950′s Kroehler couch covered in Bouclé), raise an adult beverage from those lovely little coasters and toast all the like-minded out there on their own retro-adventure.
We don’t have any nice coasters, so our drinks always end up slumming it. That’s why.
Please oh please let me win…. I need the fabulous coasters to keep the rings from my husband’s beer off my Heywood Wakefield tables
They would make a lovely birthday present for moi, who is a living, breathing midcentury modern (or modest!). Besides, I actually remember having Evening in Paris on my blond, baby-blue skirted vanity. AHHH, La Vie en Rose!
I kept the original kitchen cabinets in our 1960 Ranch, and these coasters would be perfect to adorn the back of the cabinets that face the dining room. Just adorable!
Those coasters are really cool ! I love them.
“Deserve” is a word that is hard to claim title to, but I do have a mid-century ranch home and have been working hard to bring it back to it’s glory days. Already have a wonderful cocktail shaker “vintage Paris” as well as a “tea tin’ also “vintage Paris” artwork…so would just love to add to my collection and keep moving forward with my “retro-renovation”. Love your site and love the posts, check in all the time for inspiration and just plain fun of it. Thanks and whoever wins, fantastic.
So pretty! I love them!
I would use these on a regular basis to annoy my inlaws. And to score points with my Niece who loves everything pink! My Mary/Rhoda themed kitchen needs a splash of Gay Paris! Pink and Avocado green are complimentary right? Would play Jonathan and Darlene Edwards “April in Paris” each and every time these came out I promise!
I know that I can’t enter,
I am an Australian Retro Buff,
But maybe you bend the rules
So I can add these to all my vintage stuff
My tiny house is very full,
And bursting at the seams
But these are just so darn cute
And I see poodles in my dreams!
So please consider my lame poem
When picking the lucky winner
And next time you visit the land down under
You can come around to dinner
I will show you all my retro things
And you are very welcome to stay,
So heres hoping that I hear from you soon
To let me know the coasters are coming my way!
A Poem!!! Can we mere mortals compete with a Poem!!!
…because the colors in the coasters match the Grantcrest melmac dishes I’ve been collecting for years?
I know you said “what have I done ‘lately’ “, and while this wasn’t “lately”, I did gut a bathroom to the studs and replace it with an all pink, black and white Mamie Eisenhower tiled one. The work caused some “loud” discussions between my hubbie and I because I’m a bona fide perfectionist, but even so, we are starting a 2nd bathroom reno in the mid century colors of pale grey, orange and white with a charcoal grey boomerang laminate countertop, vintage lighting and vintage starburst backplates for our knobs, vintage trash can and matching tissue box and I’m on the hunt for more vintage accessories. For a “lately” submission, I converted my front door to a Crestview style door with 3 diamond shape doorlights that span the entire length and painted it red. Pick me Pick me Pick me!
Your forever faithful follower – Janice from Wichita, KS.
these illustrations match my parent’s bathroom wallpaper.
They would go fabulously with my three vintage Paris themed, paint-by-number pictures
I need these like a need another hole in the head. But I can’t stop collecting vintage stuff!
I have pleased the Retro Decorating Gods by always freeing pieces of retro from trashpiles.
Would be a perfect accent to my “Hollywood Regency” living room decor!
Because we’re happier with our thrifted furniture than anything new. Example…new, old Kruehler sofa in our living room just rescued.
I deserve these because my niece will love them and if I win them I am going to give them to her. And my next Retro will be our “I Love Lucy” kitchen. I want the new RED from Formica for the counters and a parquet floor, in cork, if I can find it.
thank you Lovely Ladies of Retro
Oooo these coasters are beautiful! I was fortunate to visit Paris with Mom & Dad a few years ago. It was my Dad’s favorite place to be. Dad passed away this past August, and I would love, love, love to give these as a gift to my Mom!
Because no one watches more House Hunters International than me…especially when they are in Paris, because I am DYING to go to Paris and I have saved many many retro things in my life, and lots of pink things, and aqua things, and well, I just love these coasters. Thank you.
Looking at these just makes me happy.
We just bought a mid century ranch and are trying to furnish it as it should be. These coasters would look so great on our vintage surfboard coffee table in front of the new Danish modern-style couch that will be shipped soon!
What have I done lately? I recently ripped up the floating cork floor in my 1959 kitchen to reveal the original linoleum. Got the old scuff marks off and will be waxing it this coming weekend. I thought I hated that floor, but after hiding it for a few years, I realized it was one thing that keeps the house grounded in its MCM roots. Not only that, but an accent color in the lino may make its way onto the walls when I paint in a couple of months.
Oh, and the coasters match my daughter’s Parisian room!
Because I just came back from the hospital where I had emergency open-heart surgery. These darling coasters would make me smile every day that I use them. I need extra smiles.
Ok I concede to Charlotte. Who is more deserving than a woman who just had emergency open heart surgery?? Best wishes for a very speedy recovery Charlotte!
Those coasters are awesomely fabulous! They would so remind me of walking the streets of Paris. Makes me want to go back now!
We’ve been using ‘borrowed’ cardboard coasters from a local pub. They’re really klassy, with a “k”. As we continue to paint and retrofab our first house, these would make a wonderful Retro Housewarming gift.
We want a house that Margo Channing* would approve of – and these coasters would seal the deal!
*the characters kitchen in All About Eve was just so rad!
Pick me! Pick me!
I’m a newbie to Retro Renovation and am loving all the fabulous ideas and resources!
I know I deserve to win these because my daughter thinks she is part French (In ‘her world’) and she could use some ‘gay paree’ coasters to keep her retro desk from getting water marks on it.
They would look right at home in our vintage 1953 kitchen, with original Youngstown Kitchen brand metal cabinets, and stainless steel and Formica countertops (with a butcher block insert, to boot!).
Plus, it’s an easy way to remember Paris without having to pull out the photograph albums!
These are the stuff my dreams are made of!
The reason I deserve them is because I’ve been renovating a vintage camper with lots of pink and mid century and these would be perfect. I need them!
I please the Retro Gods by washing a daily load of laundry in my original mid-centrury-modern Maytag, complete with 50s-era teal insert.
Ohhhh!!!!!! SO cute!!!!! I would use those adorable coasters to fill the kitschy hole left in my heart when I recently had to say goodbye to my pretty aqua blue GE stove.
????????¨•´¨*•.¸?????¸.•*´¨•¨????????
?*?*… *COASTERS! *?*… *?
????????¨•´¨*•.¸?????¸.•*´¨•¨????????
I NEED these….because I’m vintage not old at 64!!
I need these because my 1952 house has hardly any pink in it, and this needs to be remedied STAT. They’d also be adorable on my kidney-shaped faux-marble and iron coffee table, and would impress my guests no end. ‘Ooo la-la!’ they’d say. ‘You’re finally getting some style!’
In an effort to downsize, I recently had to part with some lovely retro decor and tchochkes, which made me sad. These coasters are not only beautiful but functional too, so I would have an excuse to hold on to them!
These coasters would be the ideal gift for me to give my adult daughter, setting up her first post-college home, with her first post-college job, living the cosmopolitan life! She has inherited my love of all things retro, and is carefully putting together her perfect little mid mod nest. Mixing old and new, these would not only add a splash of color to her yard sale treasures and new pieces alike, but would serve to cement my place as the coolest Mom on the planet! And she speaks French. They could not be more perfect!
I need these coasters because they would look perfect under any one of my mid century “blendo” cocktail glasses.
I am on a big kick of donating lately. I have had some great trips in the past to thrift stores and now it’s time I pay them (the Gods and the thrift stores) back. Obviously winning these would just increase the “footprint” of my home, but they are just too darn cool not to throw my name into the hat for!
Thanks for the opportunity!
I have never had a matching set of coasters and these are FAB!
These are so great, I am a groovy chick who was born in the early ’50′s and am so into this style. They would totally rock in my home if I was lucky enough to win them. I would use these to have many fun cocktail parties with all my vintage glasses, cocktail shakers, etc.
I so deserve these…… just because ! Lol! And j’adore them!
Hi, Pam & Katy,
Why I deserve the coasters:
(1) I understand in my heart of hearts why you needed to have ALL of the coasters. And therefore I don’t judge. That’s why I deserve to have SOME of the coasters.
(2) Also, we have good mid-century modern friends who are getting married and refused to put their names on any bridal gift registry. So we have to give them some kind of inventive token gift to go with a gift to their favorite charity, and they just love Paris. I’d like to win them to give them away. Aren’t I generous and deserving?
(3) Today’s my birthday,
I am big into the retro items from my youth, and a set of coasters like these would go a long way to making my home a bit classier. I read your blog and go to the website every day looking for new inspiration and ideas for retro decorating and restoring!
Because it reminds me of the “I Love Lucy” episode in which Lucy and Ethel wore those “high fashion” outfits Ricky paid someone to make out of burlap and a horse’s feed bag!
I would love a set of your very cool coasters. I collect sweet poodle memorabilia – especially the 1950s Paris goodies. My sweet standard poodle, Lucy, passed away this fall after 10 good years of being “my shadow”. I miss her dearly and the little coasters would be a sweet reminder of my girl! Thanks so much for all your inspiration!
Why do I deserve these? Hmmm…could it be because I almost never win anything? (Can’t say never because I keep winning review copy books from my local library!). Also, they’d really go well with the old, beautiful European sidewalk watercolor my mom gave me a few months ago. Needless to say, I love these coasters! Have fun while you’re away – bring us back a lot of good stuff!
We live in a Mid Century Ranch. Our house looks like Jonathan Adler lives here. I am a Mosaic artist & I use vintage tile, found objects , stained glass in my work. I am all about Retro style & these coasters would be given a place of honor on our Bar Buffet, where the liquor is displayed on a vintage Silver platter.
I am entering in the hopes of giving these to my sister. She just renovated the kitchen of her 50′s ranch style home. She is an international Flight Attendant and her home has a cool travel inspired vibe to it. The coasters would look so perfect on her kitchen bar.
I’ve been constantly looking how to redecorate and up cycle vs. buying new! Always have my eye out for just that perfect piece. Recently, I picked up 5 boxes of subway tile for FREE just by responding to a mail. cheers!
Because they would look absolutely lovely on my grandmothers’ handed-down yellow Formica kitchen table! I cherish the kitchen set, which still has all four original chairs.
I’m not sure I am the most deserving of the coasters (there are many deserving commenters). That being said, I am a francophile, we are slowly restoring our 1929 home, one light fixture at a time, oh, and I only wear vintage from the 1940s-50s, or clothes that I have made. The cute lady on the coaster looks like she is wearing a darling vintage frock. xo
Give them to the lady that just went thru open heart surgery….would cheer her up. Thanks!
I love them!!
Hi! I would love these coasters and I deserve them because I’ve saved 100s of mid century treasures from the garbage heap, I’ve taught all the kids at school respect for older homes and the value of older items and I talked my new-homeowner friends out of wrecking a modest-mid-mod home. I saved a pink bathroom and it wasn’t even mine! Thanks!
I need them to adorn the walls (ala plate wall-style) in my pink-tiled bathroom!
These coasters represent some classic retro style. I deserve them because I get the chills whenever I see NOS uncovered from a long forgotten location!
Well, well, well.
Je suis une franco-anglo Canadienne!
Je pourrais ecrire une petite histoire pour ces precieux sous-verres!
The coasters tell a lovely story – young (or older!), happy and simply enjoying the Paris scene.
My teenage daughter for some reason has always wanted to visit Paris. Am hoping that one day she will make it there and be a photographer… In the meantime, these would be a great motivator and inspiration to get her to keep my tables clean!!!!!
On the lately side; I am hoarding and protecting a lovely green wall mounted bathroom sink to someday create that cute powder room despite and over my husband’s terrified objections! LOVE RETRORENO site.
what comes from jersey should stay in jersey.
I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to win these!!! I planned on being cleaver and telling you how all my money gets to rescuing dogs and get your sympathy by that but I JUST LOVE THESE!!!! Bottom line.
Thanks for a wonderful blog. I have gotten lots of inspiration.
Would a person who has spent hours trying to talk her husband into the pink poodle bathroom wallpaper deserve these coasters? YES! Not to mention how I have rallied against every friend who tried to tear down a pink bathroom. Plus, if that isn’t enough…I have preserved (with love) my knoty pine kitchen. Everything I have read in Retro Renovation has been so true…people love the kitchen when they see it and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Thank you Pam and everyone involved in the Retro Renovation blog for working so hard for us lovers of mid-century homes!
I love all things vintage. I myself am vintage (born 1957)! I love your blog and tell everyone I meet about it. It is nice to know so many people still love things that were made with pride and in the USA. Your blog is like comfort food to me.
I reccomended your site to a friend who just purchased a sweet mid century home. I’ve had such fun following your website while working on my 50′s home, she needs a resource as she begins renovations!
We have just purchased a 1955 Modern and are restoring it entirely to its 1955 glory. This means coming up with the means to lay cork flooring, replace the wood panels on either side of the fireplace, replace the variegated stone on the fireplace itself! We deserve awesome coasters because we are putting a wonderful house back to its rightful state!
I want to win the coasters so that I can feel really, really special too!
We have in our 1958 home a living room with early 60 sectional wrap around sofa in 60′s fabric, end and cocktail tables match the era. The lamp is a tulip type that flares up with four globes, 60′s, But the oil painting I have is a scene in France with the eiffel tower in the background. These coasters would be perfect
I would be honored to have a set of these vintage coasters. They make me smile. I don’t think I could have anyone use them as a coaster, but they would make a wonderful kitchen decoration.
Well I have done a lot lately to please the retro gods. I’m completely remodeling my house from floor to ceiling in the midcentury modern design. I’m in the process of tearing out a bathroom right now. I am using many of the ideas on your site. I want to have a house that looks like it came out of the Dick VanDike show.
Hello! I’m from Canada and Canada has nothing cool like you guys – seriously, we’re lacking. I would love (and appreciate!) a little USA retro-love done Parisian style!
Sincerely,
Heritage preservation lovin’, activist, modern architecture junkie
The 50′s was the last great decade of American modern design; in architecture, automobiles, and Cold War/Sputnik industrialization. Vibrant colors and new materials energized industrial design and domestic items. I have restored a mid-century modern home and still collect examples of that post WWII surge of industry and art. It is encouraging to find this web site devoted to mid-century modern and to connect with other devotees.
I am a lover of all things vintage and a HUGE Francophile! I totally deserve these because I am sick this week and they would cheer me up!
I need to win these because I have a totally pink kitchen with pink radios. I need to win these because all my photographs are about vintage people, ideas and things.
I need to win these because I am more vintage than anyone on this site, but cannot reveal my age, as it would embarrass everyone.
I need to win these because I have never won anything except a turkey that my dad entered my name and that was about 40 years ago.
I need to win these because they are amazingly cute.
Actually, I’d like to give these to my sister-in-law. Her father was a VP at Texaco in the 50s – 70s. On one of his journeys abroad, he brought her back-lit wall hanging, almost identical in style to these coasters. It pictures a ballerina standing “on point” in front of the Eiffel Tower. As a very young girl, living in West Texas, her first question upon seeing the picture was “Daddy, why is that girl standing in front of an oil derrek?” =o) She treasures that picture to this day, and these coasters would make a wonderful addition.
While I live in a new home, I have done whatever I can to decorate it in mid century style. These beautiful coasters would fit right in! And, they would become a treasured part of my vintage collection. Thanks so much for all of the retro happiness that you spread!
I love all things MCM, well…most things & love Paris. What could be a better combination?
I deserve these because, if I am not selected, it will show your bias against Native Americans, I will have to report you to the ACLU, and have my attorney call your attorney – and not for lunch!
Oh – wait – that’s not very “happy and nice”, is it? Well, then…how about:
If I were you, General Custer, I’d report myself as sick tomorrow. Don’t say I didn’t wish you a better day than you had!
OK, for some reason, I signed up as “Geronimo”. Probably I saw something interesting but, for some reason, didn’t fully trust it. So, sorry for the nonsense here. I’ll go back to my tepee and change my ID (I am subscribed as myself, because I’m getting my posts via that mail account. And no, I’m too cowardly to admit who i really am. Just keep up the great work!

Mid-(19th)Century Modernist
Oooh, I simply must have these fabulous coasters! I have been restoring a retro 1962 Shasta Compact camper trailer and these would be perfect in it! My pink malomine dishes would look great with them!
I rent an apartment that has metal cabinets in the kitchenette and in the dinette an Impressionist-inspired 1950-60s Parisian wallpaper scene of people sitting under umbrella bistro tables along the Seine with a woman in a similar dress near a similar kiosk. I swapped out the outlet covers for Parisian scenes, a chef and a poodle inspired by my collection of vintage linens. I added my Montmartre paintings from my trip to Paris in 1998. A funny note–one day I discovered the artist who had lived there before me left something behind, a teensy image of her silhouette attached to the wall as if she were sharing a table!
I would love to win these beautiful coasters! My husband and I just bought our first home (actually just finalized everything today!). It’s a 1963 ranch in Paradise Palms (one of the few mid century neighborhoods left in Las Vegas).
Because I have a husband who loves this stuff, is totally excited about the built1972 mid century modern colonial ramblerh we are in the process of acquiring in the oldest subdivision in Murfreesboro TN with the most wonderful stone marker bearing the title, “Park Manor”, and under that “1962″, and if we are anywhere nearby, he has to just duck in and drive slowly, lovingly by…..
I totally deserve to win because I just rescued a pink bathroom from the scrapyard. I bought a house, that was formally occupied by drug dealers, and brought the pink bathroom back to life! Also world of tile is really close to where I live and I feel like these tiles should stay in the area
I just cleaned and restored the knotty pine in my basement! It was a big job but well worth it. These coasters would be a nice accessory on my kidney shaped coffee table!
Oh-La-La
I am new to your site & love it.
I would love to add these to my collection of vintage odds & ends. These would brighten up my newest cheap-o find – a vintage Knoll coffee table & match my fancy schmancy original 1920′s moldings & fireplace surround!!
Ooh la la! The inspiration they would provide!
I deserve these because they will warm my vintage loving heart! <3
I’ve saved three 1961 bathrooms. All American Standard. The master bath has “Regency Blue” toilet, double sink and 2″ wall tiles with a mosaic floor, 1/2 hall bath has “Tourmaline Green” sink on chrome legs and matching toilet; the hall bath has “Corallin” pink tub, sink and toilet with matching subway tile walls. All toilets have original matching toilet seats. As a reward for not demolishing these works of art, I’d love to display those wonderful coasters in my home.
I would love to win these coasters for our new home: 1926 bungalow with a mid century modern time capsule interior. And because my nickname is Poodle!
I wouldn’t say it’s deserving, but I’m getting married, and I think my fiancee would like these.
We have a 1958 house with a pink bathroom.
Deserve? Oh, heavens, I don’t deserve them. But tomorrow is my birthday, and any moment now, I will become a fairy godmother (step-grandmother doesn’t sound so nice), and celebrating with champagne would be all the nicer if we could set our flutes upon such adorable coasters.
Hi Girls
Pam and Katiedoodle, you two are Priceless – you made me smile and the music was cute too. Have fun treasure hunting.
Joan aka 1958Vintage
Hi RetroRenovation!
We’ve been following your website for many years now – using it as “the” great guide as we renovate our 1954 house. My grandparents built the house we live in and it’s literally built like a mountain. They don’t make them like they used to!! We’ve done windows, plaster repair, painting, gutted kitchen, furnace, flooring, electrical, plumbing, and repaired/painted the exterior stucco! All that’s left, gasp! is the bathroom. Much of our house is MCM style.
We’ve also been to France and adored it – these coasters would be a great story and addition to our house.
Thanks for everything you do! We adore your website from Canada!
I would like to win the coasters because I’m remodeling my newly purchased 1950s ranch. I actually bought my grandparents home – they were the original owners, my mother’s childhood home. I’m wanting to revive it’s true heart and bring back that 50s charm and feel. The coasters will match perfectly with my design concept for my basement. I am a coaster freak. Every glass has to be on a coaster!
I would love to serve my friends long tall Tom Collins’ in festive glassware and ask them to use these coasters so they don’t leave ring marks on the Lane Acclaim coffee tables!
I think I deserve them, Pammy Poo and Katie Doodle, because I AM retro. I AM Mid Century (although I am fast heading toward the far end of the Century mark!!) And these lovely coasters would fit quite well in my La Di Dah Pink world!!! Thank you so much for such an awesome giveaway. Makes the crappy winter very bright and sunny!!
Easy answer. Because I want them.
Love anything from Paris, And we live in a 1954 brick rambler with original pink and gray tile in the bathroom and yellow and brown tile in the kitchen!
I am only the most deserving because I love them the MOST!
Lets see, why do I deserve the coasters. Love MCM, along with millions of other Baby Boomers!
I live in a small (900 sq. ft.) post war home. Everything I’ve improved, I make sure it fits with the era. When I discovered RR I was ecstatic. It was like a fantastic gift. I have spent many happy hours on this site. My garage is full of great finds, although no room. My dream is to have
a 50′s or 60′s home someday.
I am an avid collector of 1962 Seattle World’s Fair memorabilia. Talk about retro! I have one picture of my mother, and she is wearing a poodle dog skirt posed with my Father in front of the knotty pine bar in the basement. Need I say more?
AtomiChrissy in Seattle
I’ve got DREAMS ! Dreams of doing over my living spaces “Mid Century Modern”. Ive scored a full dining set of Heywood Wakefield with Stingray chairs, a tiered HW end table, and an orange upholstered sectional (for $10!) – accessories are always a plus ! These coasters would love to live here
I recently decorated a wall with midcentury city scapes and one of them was a PARIS scene reminiscent of those coasters! Those have my name on them:)
What a gal! Loves art, music, theater, and wine. She apparently has any man she wants, and yet is perfectly at home out and about all by herself! An inspiration way back then – and now – to all of us independent women. She reminds me of my mom.
can’t blow my own horn by saying i deserve something for free….but i love them as they remind me of my childhood..my mom and sister now passed…..i would treasure them if i was so lucky to win…thank u for the chance……i love every thing from back when…best memories are there !
sandy
Oh they would be so cute with my poodle stuff that I have collected!!!Poodle toaster and blender cover, pink poodle light switch cover, retro Barbie in poodle skirt, just to name a few. Vintage stuff rocks!
We’ve just begun demoing our 1880s basement so we can finish our basement and create a fun – retro retreat. These coasters would dazzle in this soon-to-be amazing space. And, provide inspiration as we’re undergoing the tough work to achieve the space of our dreams!
I would give those adorable vintage coasters the BEST home EVER! Rest assured Pam, those six circles of retro chic would continue to live a charmed life, every wish granted. C’mon, pick me and my 1956 beach house that still sports a bathroom with it’s original pink tile!
These are fabulous and pink and they would like great with my poodle quilt in my small pink bedroom. All things french!!!!
I just bought vintage metallic wallpaper on ebay for my master bathroom!
I would love to be the winner because coasters are cool and anything and everything is better if it’s MCM~!!!
These are so girlie ,so vintage,so sweet,so me !cuteness coasters with pink drinks on them up? Hang them on the wall, sit them on tables ,wear them around my neck
I have apparently entered my second childhood as I now want everything midcentury! Part of my early first childhood was spent in .france with several visits to Paris. The coasters look like scenes from my childhood if viewed through rose colored glasses! It was all about pink the first time around so why to continue the theme the second time around?
Ah, no mistake mon cherie, these lovely lil’ pieces must find a special place with me; as I have a German background, have trinkets from Spain, Italy, ad nauseaum borem… Yet absolutely nuttin’ from Francais – not even a bit of the ‘sparkly’ ~ That of course, can change immensely when you deliver to the frozen trundras of the tall corn ‘fly-over’ state of Ioway. Please, bring your cameras and cordless drills – let’s get these GREAT 1959 Nutone/Westinghouse kitchen unbelievables up and humming!
PS. Need a piece of pink plastic tile for the downstairs bar… check your purse bottoms, Please….You’re gonna love those starburst ceiling tiles!!!
I would love to have these for my daughter. It’s her dream to one day go to Paris. I’m working on my degree so I can make enough money so we can go after she turns 18. I can’t wait!
Well, let me start by saying wow these are gorgeous!! I had some prints of the same retro style that my mom made when she worked for some company during the war and I treasured them since my mom let me have them and she is no longer with me. I was in the process of redoing my kitchen and converting it to a “pink kitchen” and these prints would have been perfect. Unfortunately, 4 days into 2013, my home burned down and I lost everything. I had no insurance either due to financial hardship. I still would like to do the pink kitchen no matter where I end up living and these cool coasters would be a great inspiration and something nice to start over with.
I’ve pleased the decorating gods by building a turqouise, steel-look kitchen, in wood! AND the flooring and backsplash is from WORLD OF TILE! I must have these coasters to round out my WOT collection!! The gods would be pleased, non?
Don’t know that I am any more deserving, but these are sweet and would find a good home with us.
Our Danish furniture would look awesome with a little French bling!
Ooooooo, I would be the BEST AUNT IN THE WORLD if I won these to give to my niece Hannah. She spent a year in Paris and is still a Parisian (Parasite?) in her heart. I have a 1955 beach house that we are remodeling with as much old-new as possible. Sadly, my bathrooms were not pink! :-<
Why do I deserve these? I don’t know. I just would love to win something. It’s freezing cold here. I have major cabin fever. I haven’t been to an estate sale since November and I’m itching for something “new”.
I deserve these coasters because I am a poor school teacher who has to feed her retro desires on a serious budget. These would add an amazing touch to the house that I am so lovingly crafting for myself and my family! Thanks for reading and even if I don’t win, they are absolutely stunning! : )
We have colleccted poodles for years and now they are in our daughters room. These would be beautiful framed and hung in her room. Love them!
ooh la la they’re delicieux! and a perfect addition to my collect/obsess-ion with all things vintage, pink, poodle and parisian!
I deserve the coasters because they match the color scheme of my entire house. Additionally, I’m on a kick for vintage Parisian. I’m currently knitting a beret – vintage fashion pattern. Good luck all!
They are so beautiful, something that would add to my special space. All in all, thank you so much for the opportunity.
I am of French de3scent and I love to spice up my home with gallic touches. The best revenge is living well LOL These would be appreciated
I rescued a beautiful Brasilia by broyhill bedroom set from the dump at an Estate Sale recently. They let me have at a BARGIN BASEMENT price so they wouldn’t have to haul to the dump!
Well, I “need” these lovely coasters to protect my Danish end and coffee tables from cup rings.
And we also collect poodles…real ones. Barclay, Misty, and our newest little rescue poodle Romeo.
Love your the blog. I’m the second owner of a “53 rambler and you’ve given great support in keeping the pink bathroom. Lived here 25 years and so glad I kept the original kitchen cabinets. I tiled the floor, only wish I’d had marmoleum. The tiles are charming!
Love these – I have collected French style kitch and Eiffel tower items over the years and these would look great w/ the other items I have
I recently bought a set of 1960′s era prints of very simular French scenes, at an antique store in Tallahassee. I wonder if it’s the same artist!
These are precious…I love them! I have pleased the Retro Gods by being an avid thrifter and saving MCM pieces from landing in an otherwise unappreciated place. Long live the pink bathroom!
These coasters combine my love of vintage design with my love of cuteness &Paris!
I deserve to win these because, well, I think they are totally cool! Is that enough of a reason?
Hmmm … let’s see … I’ve been on a Joy Division kick lately which means my normally cheery apartment has been filled with the sounds of dark contemplation. These coasters would help me shake the gloomy and get back to the pinky poodley men-in-jaunty-hats stuff I love!
Because they are “tres chic” and I’m tres chic!
I recently rescued a formica and chrome table from the garbage!! I’m also on my way tomorrow to pick up a 1960s Electrohome stereo cabinet to use as an entertainment unit in my living room. I just recovered my dinette chairs, they were covered in awful brown 1970s floral, and now one’s electric blue and the other is yellow and white gingham. I’m 26 and LOVE everything vintage, PICK ME!!!
My daughter is just starting out on her own with a “vintage french country ” kind of theme going. She would love these and her birthday is next month
I would love these beautiful coasters! They are simply lovely and would match my home colors! Also, I never win anything! Really! Always a number off when tickets are raffled or sitting next to the winner! I would honestly, just like to win something and these are so pretty!
I’ve had people ask me, when you go to estate sales, don’t you feel weird buying (most likely) dead people’s stuff?! And I say, “I think of it as giving something that was loved and taken care of for many years a new, loving home; a place where it will treasured and appreciated more many more years to come….in all it’s “retro” glory!!
(Hope I win!)
Those darling coasters would look amazing next to my pink pyrex collection in my kitchen with a pink kitchenaid mixer and pink canisters!
Retro Rennovation is pure fun! I enjoy the posts so much and the photos always inspire!
Merci!
This retro girl wishes that she could be the winner of those fabulous coasters. They would go great in my original 1960’s kitchen breakfast area/sunroom. The pick will play well with my original PINK GE wall oven that a friend found for free on Craigslist. This retro girl needs more goodies especially of Paris, I place I have yet to get to. Maybe one day when I’m not a poor single homeowner.
I’ve had a really rough week, and these would cheer me up a bunch!
My husband and I have a regular Friday cocktail hour in the living room of our 1959 colonial. These would look great under our retro cocktails.
Very cool. We are always looking for cool finds here and there and have been able to get pieces here and there on a budget. It is possible to decorate without breaking the bank. We live your website for that. These would look awesome next to our best find, a Drexel china hutch for $50.
These would match perfectly with my Midcentury Ranch Kitchen! Oui! Oui! C’est Magnifique! Thanks for the opportunity to win these and THANKS for this site! It’s inspired me to retro-renovate my entire house. Pink bathroom – you’re up NEXT!
-Amy
I would love to win these cool coasters! Being a victim of Hurricane Sandy, I had to move and my mid-century finds are sadly in storage or destroyed. I DID manage to bring my mid-century China closet to my new temporary abode, however….and it is quite lonely. Those adorable coasters would cheer it up for sure!
These make me smile!
They would look ooh la la in my family’s retro rec room!
I just bought a house built in 1963 from the family of the original owner/builder. The pink dress on the plates matches the carpet! These would look fabulous on the living room table next to the flagstone planters!
We are restoring our 1951 house and these would look perfect! So cute!
I think it would be totally super-ultra way-groovy cool to win these coasters, because they would SO compliment my vintage Franciscan ware starburst set of dishes, and my collection of vintage mini eifel towers, and cheezy tourist umbrella – and while we are on the subject of compliments, if I DID win these, I would simply have to tell everyone I ever meet about this website (Shhhhhh! Don’t tell her that I already too this – you’ll ruin my only bargining chip!). Hehehehe Good Luck Everyone! If you win, don’t forget who gave you that winning luck when you are writing them into your will! Muhahahahahahha!
I’ve been collecting mid-century fun for over a quarter of a century now (first time I’ve actually realized that!)
I’d be proud to the be caretakers for these lovely coasters – I really do look at all of my finds as items to take care of for all of the collectors and enthusiasts that will come after me.
These would be great additions to our happy hours in our 1951 ranch, and they will be sure to be fawned over by many kind and fun people.
And did I mention I have a big collector of retro Parisian? AND I have a lovely pink bathroom, with prints that match these and poodles all around – my guests would be immersed in the theme no matter where they are in the house!
We bought a 1952 Colonial in July and are slowly but surely restoring it to its original awesomeness. It came with a pink bedroom, which will soon serve as my sewing/crafty/shoe storage space. Since I already have a poodle theme going in there, these would be BEYOND perfect!!!
Enjoy your weekly emails as well as your awesome site(s). PS I was into “mid-century” before it was even POPULAR!! I would LOVE to have this gorgeous set of coasters to add to my “ALL THINGS FAB” collection! ~ Thank you so much for your consideration ~ Amy H. <3
I want these coasters for three reasons:
1. These would look amazing in my MCM living room which is decorated in turquoise and pink.
2. I am an artist and the painter coaster would be cute in my studio.
and most importantly
3. My new puppy chewed up and ate my coasters and am now left with none and what’s a person to do without coasters? We can not sit drinks on a Heywood Wakefield side table without coasters!
Oh Please! Oh Please….Mon Ami! I love Paris in the spring time……and my little 1940′s home could use a little touch of Paris in the spring too! Muah! Muah! xoxo
A TREASURE TO ADD TO MY HOPE CHEST!!!! MY FINGERS AND TOES ARE CROSSED
I love these coaster!! If I win, they’ll warrant a cocktail party and I’ll wear a matching pink dress
I haven’t had a chance to go to Paris in over ten years! When I saw these my heart went pit-a-pat!
Those coasters, my dear, are pure kitsch. As my name implies, everything kitschy is automatically MINE. Like many others here, I have a house filled with retro goodness (most of it kitsch). These coasters would match my pepto-pink dining room awesomely (the aluminum coasters are just not cutting it in there). However, I have taken my dedication to kitsch one step further than most of the retro world, because I also have this…
http://smg.beta.photobucket.com/user/kitschywoman/media/Tattoo.jpg.html?evt=email_share
Case closed. I won’t insult your intelligence by telling you what it’s based on because I’m sure you already know. ;P
I just love the colors of these fabulous coasters. I have no coasters to protect my beautiful vintage furniture. Although I must admit these will go in the hutch until the kiddies are older and less destructive!
Awww…I would LOVE to have these to give to my 90 (+ shhh) year old aunt who LOVES Paris (has visited many times). Her house is a testament to classic vintage decor! These would be so nice on her Adrian Pearsall Danish Modern coffee table that sits between her light turquoise curved Henrendon Sofas.
~ Oh retro gods,,you know how i have to defend my “dated” retro house at every turn,,yes i actually love it like this,,so bless me with those cute little coasters!!~
These coasters would go great with the new lamp I purchased!!! Of course, I couldn’t invite my cousin over anymore because she would snap them up
What has Pam done for me you ask? She constantly brings excitement, beauty and sometimes envy into my day. The incredible finds, renovations and the incredible homes that haven’t been touched since the 50′s are precious gems. And as an architect I must say that to see homes, rooms, and their accessories brought to life is a true art form.
Hi Pam, Why are these coasters special to me……..
1) I got to meet you in Charlotte a couple of years a go at the Home and Garden show.
2) My husband and I had stated talking about our renovation of his home place a 1959 Ranch with a full walk-out basement. We wanted to know how to start, yours was my first blog to read.
3) We rescue poodles and volunteer through Carolina Poodle Rescue that is located in SC.
4) We are redecorating in French style in “Rita’s Rambling Ranch”. Rita is my MIL who passed away in 2005 and it is her house.
5) French=Poodle
Thank you for the give away. Love your blog and how you share all of your research with others!!!
Oh great and powerful gods of random numbers and retro deco, please bless me with coasters if I am worthy. I have honored you with a kitchen overflowing in Lincoln Beautyware, Youngstown Kitchens, and little doo dads and gizmos from days gone by. My one and only kitchen flaw is a set of 3 coasters, one plastic with a margarita theme and two made of glass from the modern art museum souvenir shop. The glass ones stick and crash every time you lift your glass. Needless to say only your benevolence can save me from water rings.
I have just begun adding some French retro decor to my MCM decorated house! The colors and themes are perfect. I’m starting a new business so have not been able to do as much antiquing and treasure-hunting as I would typically do! Winning these would be a real pick-me-up by being able to decorate my home – my favorite pastime!
I love hep-cat retro stuff so much that I ‘m currently looking for a mod pad in Florida & I’m finally gonna ditch all the furniture and go strictly Sinatra style hereafter. They can bury me in my rhinestone cateye glasses! These coasters can be my touchstone!
I would love to win the vintage coaster set, because I will actually use them and not just display them. I like to use all of my vintage items. Thanks!
My husband and I are celebrating having closed escrow 1 year ago….what an awesome addition to our meager living room furnishings!
I would love to win these to give to a friend of mine actually. Perfect for a single, classy fashionista. SO CUTE!
Hello! Those coasters are kind of perfect for me in a million ways, but I will give just a few reasons why I would love to give them a home. First, the tile with the accordion reminds me of my sweet friend who died suddenly last year at the age of 46. She was a brilliant musician, but the accordion was her greatest instrument! She and I were/are obsessed with vintage Paris scenes, and she painted me a picture of us in Paris, wearing berets, bien sur, with an accordion floating above us in the pink sky. Several of the vintage Paris prints that decorate my office and home are gifts from Sophia. Second, one of the main things that sold me my 1964 split level is the wallpaper in the powder room, which is very similar to the scenes on the tiles — it was gold, black, and white, with cafe scenes and even a risque can-can scene! Sadly, there was too much water damage to save the wallpaper, but I have made it my mission to find something similar to replace it with (or even better — finding some of the original wallpaper, which I hunt for obsessively!). So, I would give these tiles a very loving home. Thanks for your blog, which has helped me appreciate 60′s features in my home — which has a cupola!
My memory goes back to the “I Like Ike” years – so I’m definitely able to remember mid-century stuff. Harvest Gold and Avocado? Absolutely.
Being older than dirt – I deserve a coster.
I live in a NYC apartment building that opened in 1962 and has not been renovated. These coasters would fit in with my vintage cocktail napkins. Thank you for the opportunity.
Oh My Gosh… these tiles are sooo cute! I can see them on my wall next to my Eiffel Tower Lamp! I love Vintage and your Paris Tiles are awesome! PICK ME PICK ME! Thanks for the chance to win these great Paris Tiles… Linda Barnes
Zou Bisou Bisou, Zou Bisou Bisou,
Oh what I wouldn’t do to win zeeese from you!
Just bought a 1954 “time capsule” and these would go wonderfully in the basements cedar/knotty pine rec-room!
OMG!!! Want these!
My house is early 40′s and I’m always on the look out for cute vintage furniture or decor for it. These coasters would look just right in my pinkish living room!
I deserve these amazing, lovely coasters because I’ve fought my husband over keeping our pink tile bath and am currently (slowly) restoring it!
I need them to complement my super swingin’ oil on grasscloth vintage French paintings that are the coolest things ever!
I love the french theme, the color, the mcm era, and a chance to win these!
Love RetroReno, your site gets better and better! These coasters are adorbs, and my 1952 ranch, Evelyn, would be tickled to have them!
I deserve these because everything in my house…including my house, is mid century and a few years older than me! “Born to late…”
Love this blog site! Been a fan for a long time!
Holy heck those are PERFECTION! My fiance & I recently purchased a mid century modern house which was being turned into a boring “Mediterranean”. We’re slowly bringing it back to it’s 1954 grandeur. It’s a slow process = minimal budget. Love this site and all the wonderful tips! Keep up the fabulousness!
I am currently reviving two fabulous vintage tables rescued from my parents’ garage…hopefully this pleases the Retro Decorating Gods! Fingers crossed for these little Parisian gems…
I deserve these because I help other mid century pieces find loving homes and rarely get to keep things myself, even though I LOVE them.
*sigh* Aren’t they darling! Funny, while cleaning I was just looking at the four coasters I have and thinking I should look for something more in keeping with my MCM side tables.
I’ve been slowly adding more color to my life for a little over a year now. I used to be all about monochrome, but only because it was easy. 50s blues and pinks (and yellows — real yellows as opposed to the monocreamoffwhites) have been coming in little by little as much as I can afford to (a blue accent wall is next!), and of course these coasters have the three colors I’ve been adding! Neato!
The sound isn’t working on my computer at the moment so I can’t hear the video, but if these are actual tile (and not bone china — I’m a vegetarian) I would love to win them!
This is so much fun reading everyone’s wishes here.
I need these … no LOVE these…but my plea for winning is purely unselfish. My Granddaughter is just getting into retro Paris, and since she moved away to Florida two years ago, we have only seen each other one time. Before that, I had her and her sister almost every weekend. So, the bond we are forming over the decorating thing is SSSSOOOOOOO important!! Zootsuitmama
I don’t know if I deserve ‘em, but I want ‘em! .
I would love for the retro decorating gods to pick me. It’s been a retro repair week. I just finished repairing a 1957 Philco refrigerator that was getting too cold, a 1950 Frigidaire Range that was getting too hot, and a 1955 Kenmore dishwasher that was leaking water! A reward for my humble workmanship on 55 to 63 year old appliances would be most welcome!
Wouldn’t these be fantastic protecting my redone bathroom tile from my glass of red wine? I’d hate to get grape stains on my gorgeous, classic, basketweave tile floor…
I find these tiles absolutely stunning. They’re fabulous!
If I won these, I would SSSOOOO hang them up for every one to enjoy.
I LOVE travel and LOVE mid-century design. These combine my 2 passions in life!
I just renovated a 1/2 bath (and did it in MCM). I need small wall hangings for either side of the window. These priceless coasters should be displayed, and not under a beer bottle – they deserve better than that. I’d give them a good home.
These are so me….I just love this style, look and we’ll everything about them!!!!
I’m the proud owner of a 1952 Mid Century Modest. It unfortunately got somewhat remodeled in the 80′s so I’ve been slowing taking it back to the 50′s. I just got the kitchen done and it looks a-ma-zing! The bathroom got done about a year ago, and the entire upstairs is decorated with mid-century furniture. This coasters would be great on my bar set!
I love, love, love these! I’m a huge fan of mid century modern and would love to have these beauties to use and show off my MCM flair. Thanks for the opportunity!
Whew, almost missed this! So fabulous. I’m going to redo two baths in my house soon so I think that definitely justifies a field trip to this tile place. Such a drool worthy destination.
468 -1″ Japanese mosaic porcelain tiles replaced by hand, one-by-one to restore 1961 MCM flooring. I need someplace to put my wine done now that I am on to celebrating!
Moi – j’adore les coasters de Paris. J’adore le rose, j’adore le noir. J’adore les chiens, les poodles fabuleuses!
S’il vous-plait – donnez moi les coasters retro et chic!
Merci beaucoup mes amies!
Me and my husband (I may be speaking for him right now) would love these coasters for our “new” home, a 1960s ranch! We have a bit of a pastels theme throughout the house including our pink bathroom and these coasters are just the cutest!
Because guys can appreciate this stuff too.
I just got my own little apartment that I am filling with all things retro and vintage. HENCE why I deserve them!
The reason I should win these is that I have many retro and scarce cocktail shaker, coasters, items that are major book items from Stephen Viskays book, scarce ronson lighters bartenders, scarce lunch boxes, 1940′s and 1950′s retro barware, depression glass, it’s all displayed just like a book, adding these coasters would be fantastic for me and people that admire items like this. I must not forget 4 generations of china and sets of complete silver service. Ask for pictures I can send, hope to win
Because I have a friend who loves midcentury retro stuff just as much as I do and I’m going to give them to her if I win.
Her bathroom is even painted Martha Stewart’s “Paris Pink.”
Love! Because I may never get to Paris again…but a girl can dream!
Chances are, I will never have a chance to live the life of the girl in the art on the coasters, but if you let me win, I can have the vicarious thrill of embellishing a very elaborate narrative about each one every time I see them. Which would be often.
I work for a beautiful, green company that was devastated by Hurricane Sandy. We are trying to rebuild. I will spread these throughout the office to raise spirits as we work so hard to get up and running again.
Dear Pam,
Like your beautiful French tiles, I, too, am a true retro. These tiles would feel right at home with me and would certainly be treated as treasured members of the family!
I came across your site while surfing for retro furnishings and love it. Your love of retro is evident by your furnishings and in your little video clip. Welcome to St. Petersburg!
Oui, j’adore le petite coasters!
Because I’m out of skeets.
Because several years ago I bought a set of wonderfully colorful annodized aluminum coasters for our Mid Century Modest Florida home. But everybody hates them because condensation makes them stick to the glasses until about halfway up, then they coasters fall off the glass with a loud crash, LOL.
Kitschy 60′s were/are the best!
I would love these for my Heywood Wakefield table!! I just rewired 9, yes 9 mid century lamps this week!! I do believe the retro gods here in Dallas are smiling!
Well, I need these because they match my living room… and they are just about the cutest, happiest things I have laid eyes on in a long time!
I really need those ’cause my dad painted a similar Paris cafe scene on the wall of our midcentury breakfast room w the tulip table and fiberglass chairs – also my obsession w vintage tile and custom mosaic work of late – if I win them I just might incorporate them into a vintage wrought iron bistro tabletop – or not- but they are way cool!
These are FABULOUS!!!!
Heck yeah I want them! They’ll be perfect in my home!
Pam & Kate:
I love your work! I look forward to every update on Retro Renovation dot com. You’re the best.
Liz
I would love these for my 1958 Cardinal travel trailer that we are in the process of renovated. She can’t quite take us around the world, but we have a world of fun traveling around with her.
Wow!
I’m a hard worker, but my income still leaves a bit to be desired. As a result, my collection is still fairly small, and has mostly been collected using methods of extreme thrift. This works for me nicely (but slowly). Man, these precious little guys would absolutely perfect my (hand me down) mid century bar setup!
My sister and I have purchased a very vintage 1957 Detroiter mobile home for vacations along the river. These coaster would certainly be appreciated and put to use in our secret chalet!!
These coasters would be fabulous to protect my “new” mid century end table!
Retro on…
I deserve these adorable tiles because 1) I am a long time francophile and 2) I have the perfect, vintage pink-y/peachy bathroom to hang them in. Thanks for the giveaway – and for the awesome blog!
jane
Hello! We have cocktails every Friday night and our poor tables have rings where we have carelessly left our glasses while dancing to ye-ye music…..we would actually use these coasters as intended and take them with us to our Parisian pied-a-terre….no need to read anyone else’s poor pleas, we are the winners
Ahh, so romantic. Paris and a pretty girl in pink. I love them!
Oh. My. God. We have just decided to revamp our 62 split level’s kitchen in ’50′s french Blue & Yellow and I would love to use these as a way to integrate some Black iron accents and bring in a splash of Pink! Yay! Please Retro Gods that be, pick me, pick me pick me!
I’ve discovered my inner crafty this year and have fallen in love with decoupage and vintage images. These would be great inspiration!
I deserve these because I am lovingly saving (and restoring) my 1955 pink bathroom! I would probably hang these beautiful coasters as wall art in said bathroom. xoxo.
bonjour pam,
i think i should win some coasters because i am a francophile since the age of 17 (i married a frenchman who i met in paris when i was 19 – helas, no longer married to him – thankfully). j’adore la france. i had not been to france for many years but went twice last year! i also love this site and think you are fantastique!
oh la la!
Bonjour, Mesdames!
As a French teacher, I would love to have the coasters to show my students the wonderful visions of mid-century France that enthralled me as a child. And as an inhabitant of a mid-century Cape Cod with two time capsule bathrooms (one pink and white, one burgundy and white), I’d give those coasters the same respect and love we show our retro home!
Enjoy your time offsite, ladies! Bon week-end!
Why, these coasters do not accurately depict my college weekend trip to Paris, while I was a scruffy German major undergraduate in Heidelberg. My Paris jaunt took me with four other girls into the city of lights, without much cash. I remember splitting bottles cheap of red wine and baguette at night, eating granola bars during the day, sleeping in a dreadfully filthy hostel, and spending wayyy too much time on a train to Versailles during a spontaneous train worker strike. These coasters would help me make new memories.
The Retro Decorating Gods love that I have mostly saved my time capsule home. My pink kitchen is one appliance away from perfection and my remaining pink bathroom is too cute (I used to have 2 but my husband couldn’t hang). These coasters would look soooo lovely in my dining room : )
I always loved the retro look. Being single, (divorced for 10 years now) and trying to get my house together I have started to remodel. And YES it is gong to Retro. I have been lookng on E-BAY I won a bid on a retro table & chairs which I am so happy about, and I also bought material that my sister is going to make kitchen curtains for me. I would just Love these New Old Stock Coasters to be an added special part of the” New Me”
These coasters should make their forever home in my home (1957) because I just acquired a great 50′s black poodle cookie jar and my husband & I plan on getting a black poodle this year. Good things happen in three’s!!!
I have pleased the retro rennovating universe by repairing, refurbishing, redoing, recycling and genuinely loving all things retro and vintage. This lovely little coaster setwould be the icing on the cake in my paris themed pink vintage bathroom.
Those are so cool!!!
HELLO PAM YOUR SEARCH CAN END RIGHT HERE! I LIVE IN A 1951 HOUSE ALL ORIGINAL NEVER CHANGED A THING! I HAVE THE ORIGINAL YOUNGSTOWN WHITE KITCHEN METAL CABINETS THE ORIGINAL OVEN ORIGINAL FLOORS ALL PLASTER WALLS BATHROOM ALL ORIGINAL AND EVERYTHING IN MY HOME THATS FURNISHED IS FROM THE 1920S-1960S OR IT DOESNT ENTER MY HOME! PEOPLE CALL MY HOME THE MUSEUM IT WOULD SEEM TO BE A GOOD FIT LIKE EVERYTHING ELSE! THANKYOU PAM HOPE TO HEAR FROM YOU TERRI
These coasters are the type of item my older sister would have in her room across the hall from me when we were growing up.
Her room was pink and had poodle pictures and all sorts of lovely “chic decor.”
My room, which was blue, was more into troll dolls and a Creepy Crawler Thingmaker theme.
To own these beautiful tiles would be my ultimate hearts desire and MY room would be the cool room
I am down to two (2) coasters in my gorgeous 1950 knotty pine den. Where the other 2 have gotten to is a mystery. Our den is large so my husband and I use it for TV watching as well. We go in there in the evening and each grabs a coaster to place our coffee mug on. If someone is visiting, I use a magazine as a coaster. These would look so great on my mid-century modern end table in my gorgeous den. A fabulous accessory!
Well, after trying for months to talk my husband into the some PinkPoodle wallpaper for our bathroom….these may be the closest I’ll get! Do you think they’ll clash with my knotty pine kitchen? Thanks Pam and company for all your efforts to keep the mid-century homes alive and well!!!
These would look fabulous in my black and pink retro bathroom, right above the sink! They might look good in my yellow and gray retro bathroom, too, although I’m not sure I’d want to split them up.
Oui, s’il vous plaît !!!
I can just see these as wall decorations along with my Paris wine pictures.
Hi Pam I’m a vintage stuff lover and collector too. I just finished retro-renovating my kitchen and I ‘d looove so much to see these quties hanging on the blue-green colour painted wall.
I also love vintage, and am part French , so this would be so ideal for me. <3
These would be so perfect in our 57 ranch! We were fortunate enough to move into an “almost timecapsule” home with many original features and fixtures. They would look fabulous setting on our Lane dovetail coffee and endtables!
The coaster with the poodle is the one that speaks to me! They are all lovely and would all get a drink posted up on them. Pick me!
I deserve to win, because my husband attended first grade in Paris in the 1950s (his dad was in the U.S. Foreign Service at the time). {edited, mary, i can see your email from when you filled out the comment boxes, no need to include here}
Obviously, I was the female model for these coasters in a previous life.
I released the Retro decorating Gods when I bought a Stonehill 1950′s mahagony and vinyl bedroom suit this weekend at a antique store will post a pic soon ! And I also love the coasters
I am de-colonialalizing a 1950 atomic ranch!!! I am trying to amass as much retro home furnishings as I can. And….these are just so me!!! I’m a very Audrey type of girl.
. I een have my moms false eyelashes from the 60′s!!!!
Tres chic! Why do I deserve such adorable coasters. We’ve been using our paper coasters that we got whilst dining out months ago. Paper and liquid are sort of… Gross. And we’re getting ready to move out of a horrendous, abusive apartment (terrible neighbors) and into a non-abusive apartment next month. This would definitely help me shake off the dark cloud that’s been following me around… And, never been to Europe, but one of the places in the world I want to see someday is Paris. Thank you for this opportunity.
Because they are beautiful and I will gve them a great home!
I deserve these lovely coasters because I live I’m a house with my husband and three sons, and I lacking pink and Paris in my my life.
Also they will look perfect on our Heywood Wakefield table while playing euchre.
Adding vintage lighting to my 1955 double-wide.
Let’s face it. I’m caught in a time warp. I’m an artist, a painter of oil paintings. My work is all about the 1940s- 1960′s. These coasters would find a loving home amongst my vintage Cocktail Ware.
oh Pam…oh please…the family with the pink bathroom next door would surely be happy for me! as mine is not,but I too would have something wonderful, way cool ! I would use as art on my kitchen wall and I would be grinning so much my face would hurt. Pick me! pick me!!
Would give to my daughter who has a 1950′s ranch house.
Well, looking over the comments, I think if you were going by merit and not by a random drawing, dumpster-diving Mollye would deserve the coasters. Heck, I’ve done some side-of-the-road vintage rescues (including getting a Chinese red broken upright piano into a truck with a friend), but hey, I’ve never pulled a blue toilet and sink out of a dumpster. You go, Mollye!
