Jodi owns a 1949 ranch style home — and has just finished restoring her stunning vintage maroon and peachy-pink bathroom. She cleaned up and uncovered the gorgeous vintage tiles in her bathroom… found a much needed new toilet that coordinated well with the space… and then pieced together scraps of the bathroom’s original vintage wallpaper to create an accent wall. Such beautiful vintage tile! Such a wonderful bathroom! Is anyone else drooling a little?
Another pink bathroom saved! I live in a 1949 ranch style home. Most of it is a time capsule. I wish I had before photos of this bathroom when it had h***** shag carpet over the original tile floor and wallpaper for every decade.
We had to replace the toilet. But my “pride in joy” in this small renovation is the wallpaper. I found scraps if the original vinyl paper in a storage closet & puzzle pieced it. With just enough to do one wall. Thank you for all your resources and inspiration!
Jodi, give yourself a huge pat on the back for a job well done. Making an accent wall with the scraps of the original wallpaper and painting the remaining walls the same color as the wallpaper’s background was a brilliant decision that ties the whole room together. Also, can I add a YOWZA for those vintage maroon wall tiles — I’m pretty sure I am spying molded raised line-patterns in some of the maroon tiles near the tub, and on the liner tiles, too. Amazing! Congratulations on a job well done and another pink bathroom saved, and thanks so much for sharing your success with all of us.

My favorite part is the Crane sink and fixtures. Thank God that was never messed with. Too bad it’s missing the matching burgundy Crane toilet, but great job with the restoration!

Beautiful job. Love seeing tile history restored. The wallpaper accent is just enough to keep it all fresh and contemporary.

Great job with this bath. I bet the bath was in as good of shape as it was because it didn’t have a shower. That steam can be hard on baths over the years. Or maybe this is just a guest bath or a bath that was not used much since the finish on the tub and sink look great. Wallpaper and wall color are just perfect. Your hard work really paid off!
You chose just the right toilet too. Toilet looks like the Kohler Portrait.

I have never been a fan of this tile color combo but this has totally changed my mind! Adding that beautiful green color with the burgundy and peach is so dreamy! A million times yes to the wallpapered accent wall, what a job well done!

I grew up with maroon and black plastic tiles from a 1948 cape cod and I always thought it was ugly. Wow, if only we had your bathroom as inspiration! The wallpaper really pulls it all together beautifully. It is period and gorgeous! Congrats, job well done!

Maroon and black? That would be very dark, indeed.

FABULOUS!!!! WOW!!! You have done such a fantastic job! Besides the overall beauty of your bathroom, my favorite parts are the built in shelves in the half wall next to the toilet, and that you’re an “over” girl on the TP ~ 🙂

Beautiful. Would enjoy taking a bath there.
Curious if you have another bathroom with a shower? I don’t see a curtain or shower door. Since I had knee surgery, I miss baths because my tub is facing the wrong way. With my weaker knee I find I have to turn around in the tub to use the stronger knee to get up and out, so now a shower is just easier.

Jodi, what a beautiful 1940s color scheme you were working with, and your design solutions were brilliant. I have had to piece wallpaper when I didn’t have enough to finish a project, and it’s very tricky. Wherever did you find maroon towels?
Of course, it seems that everyone on this site notices the tile first and the fixtures second. The condition of both is impeccable. The tub and sink look fabulous and shiny. That toilet is new? It looks like a 1940s style. And because of the amount of white in the room, it doesn’t stick out like a sore thumb.Did you have to re-grout and reseal the tile? It is in amazing condition.
OK, work over. It’s time for you to have a bubble soak in that lovely tub. Go the whole way, with candles in glass jars on the little shelf. It looks like it was made for that purpose.

Mary Elizabeth, Thank you so much! The maroon towels came from Macy’s & Ross dress for less.
