Kate here with a Pam-o-gram update. Above: that’s post-op Pam trying to give a peace sign.
Her surgery yesterday morning to get plates put in her arm and wrist went smoothly. After surgery, the doctor gave her a new, sleeker cast that allows her fingers to move enough so she will be able to type while her arm heals — hallelujah! Right now she is trying hard to get some rest and relaxation, but she’s having blog withdrawals and has been sneaking over to the computer to reply to a few comments here and there. Pam says it is driving her nuts that she can’t yet type like a madwoman like she did before her tiki-accident, but I keep telling her that all of you wonderful readers understand why she hasn’t been as active as usual replying to comments here and on our Facebook page. Bottom line, Pam is now on the mend and has the determination of a ravenous piraña to get back to her ‘crazy in a good way’ life as usual here at Retro Renovation. Thanks so much for all the well wishes, captions and understanding — we both really appreciate it.

Pam – get well soon! Us RR nutcases miss you on the blog! Although, Kate does a wonderful job. 🙂 Here’s to a speedy recovery!

I am sure you are not a good patient! It is hard for an energetic and creative person to “have” to rest. Don’t rush things, you want things to heal correctly the first time. Have you gotten ideas to redecorate hospital rooms yet? There is an article about the designer Michael Graves and how he got into nursing home design after he had an extended stay in the mauve rooms! http://money.usnews.com/money/blogs/the-best-life/2013/08/29/michael-graves-vision-making-hospitals-more-fashionable
Perhaps you can design retro hospital rooms.
Feel better soon.

Speaking from experience, it is VERY hard for an active person to be laid up. Try to enjoy the attention and being waited on, and relax, so your body can heal. We’ll all wait with baited breath (whatever that is)!

Wishing you a quick recovery! Thinking of you fondly today.

Seriously, rest is good! And good for you, too! The blog is safe in Kate’s able hands. Take some R&R. Let the mind wander. Read a novel. We all understand and want you to heal and be as good as new!

Thanks for the Pam-O-Gram (LOVE that bit of cleverness) as I’ve been wondering (as have we all, I’m sure) how you’re doing. I am so sorry to hear about the surgery, but glad it’s over and went well. Boy are these platitudes—but sincerely meant!
I love the barkcloth sling idea—could be a small way for those barkcloth pieces to make amends for causing–albeit indirectly—the big crash.

I will be out soon myself for 6 weeks (CTS surgery) – so I know what you’re going through. Not being able to type :(. Meanwhile, can someone make her a barkcloth sleeve to cover the cast? Maybe that’s a million $ idea!!! Sleeves for casts – in retro fabrics. I may have to sew one myself before I have my surgery –

I meant to also say to have a SPEEEEEEEDY recovery!

Dearest Pam: What a BUMMER! I was SO sad to hear about the initial accident – resulting in what seems to be becoming an even ‘bigger-big-time-boo-boo’ than originally thought! Damn those ‘Tiki Gods’ for sending down that lightening bolt! Here’s to a a VERY speedy recovery, lots of love and some friggin’ good pain killers! You da Goddess of Mid-Cent, and we need you back, typing and entertaining us like during the good ol’ days!(of 2 weeks back). – Wow – that sounded WAY selfish! xoxo

The only tiki-ish thing I own is a sailfish so I touched the point of his sword for good luck and to wish you a speedy recovery. Hopefully you are home resting comfortably now and being showered with doggie kisses which we all know have magical healing powers.

Pam you are so fortunate to have a great friend in Kate! Relax and let her worry about the writing, though you probably are not as concerned as you are just plain mad with boredom and itchy with inability to do very much about it.
Be well and good good luck with the recovery time. I suspect that very soon you will have worked out a way to work very well on your computer with one clumsy left hand!
