Thanks to a tip from reader Nancy, we discovered that the company that makes Pyrex — which recently celebrated their 100th anniversary with a special collection — has released yet another vintage revival collection. Vintage Charm™ Inspired by Pyrex® — is a new brand and features sets of three decorative, nesting prep and serving bowls — each inspired by the Popular Patterns of Pyrex® Opal Glass from the 50’s and 60’s. Super cute!
Note these aren’t for use in ovens. The company news release says: “All bowls are dishwasher, freezer and microwave safe for ease and convenience while entertaining” — and the company confirmed via email:
“To confirm, these bowls are microwave, freezer and dishwasher safe but should not be used in the oven.”

I’m sad to say that they’ve reduced the price of these sets at my local Kroger and have moved them to a lower and less desirable shelf in the housewares aisle. I guess shoppers just aren’t loving them as much as we are.
Diana of Mt. Lebanon says
The really nice thing about these sets is that they have LIDS. My vintage Pyrex does not have any lids and I really want a set with lids. So, I’m seriously tempted to get these!
Michelle says
Yay! I saw the striped ones at Target just before Christmas. Nice they expanded the line. Now if they’d just add some pink and some more lime! Hope these will be lead free, unlike the the vintage stuff.
Amy says
“Lead-free, unlike the vintage stuff?” Ack.
I love the black-and-white pattern the best, but really, they’re all wonderful.
Very nice that there’s lids. Great bridal shower gifts, I’m thinking.

Folks: Please consult with the Pyrex company regarding any potential for lead in the old stuff. I don’t know about this one way or the other.
Robin, NV says
Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, oh my gosh! If I didn’t already have a cupboard full of vintage Pyrex, I would totally snap up some of these.
Elizabeth says
OMG! I still have and use my mom’s Butterfly Gold butter dish. It’s a happy butter dish 🙂
Jay says
Interesting! I haven’t seen any of these pieces in my area. I didn’t think opal with color would ever make a come back. The characters on Rise and Shine remind me of Fisher Price toys. NO MORE PYREX! I use what I have and ther isn’t room for more.
Mary Elizabeth says
You are so brave! I have a hard time saying “no” to new pieces.

I love the Rise ‘n Shine pattern and am seriously tempted to get it even though the last thing I need is more mixing bowels. A few weeks ago I was at the Minnesota Historical Society’s “Suburbia” exhibit, and they had a kitchen display with Butterprint mixing bowls displayed in a GE wall mounted fridge. It was very cool!
linda h says
I think I like rise ‘n shine better than butterprint which I collect. I need to get some. Will look at Amazon.com then try Kroger. Yeah for Pyrex!
linda h says
Oh, no! Everyone online seems to be out of stock.

Are these Pyrex brand or are they inspired by vintage Pyrex?
pam kueber says
They are a new brand “Inspired by Pyrex”
Jay says
Pam, can you confirm this with World Kitchen? I have the impression that these are just glass bowls decorated with Pyrex inspired patterns. Genuine Pyrex can go in the oven and the freezer. The WK web site for shopping really doesn’t clarify this.
pam kueber says
In the news release also shown on the blog they say: “All bowls are dishwasher, freezer and microwave safe for ease and convenience while entertaining.” No mention of oven-use.
We are reaching out to our contact to double check, though
