Doing some research about appliances, we bumped into this story in Whirlpool’s press room: Seems like the company is considering introducing a new color, “Sunset Bronze.”
I’m kinda into this Sunset Bronze, because it’s like the drawer fronts in American Brand Pioneer kitchens married the metal dome of my vintage Imperialite pendant light and gave birth to a rosy love child. I’m not in the market for new appliances myself, but if I were working on a retro kitchen project, I might play around with a mood board that considered these. The are different. And they are warm.
The Whirlpool’s PR rep was very helpful in supplying images, but seemed to be towing the line on whether the company is even bringing these to market. I think the story is, Whirlpool showed off this color at some trade show to gauge interest, and now they need to decide. Officially, Whirlpool told us, “We received tremendous positive response to the introduction of Sunset Bronze and are looking forward to bringing it to market in the future. Although we do not have a hard launch date yet, please continue to check Whirlpool.com for updates.” Whether this color makes the cut or not, it is nice to see a major mainstream manufacturer considering mass market options other than stainless, black and white.

I love it.
Kay Goolsby says
Yes, I like it! Any color except the white, stainless, and black that you see now. I loved my coppertone back in the day and would like that again.
Steve says
Not a chance. It’s just a way to get people to part with perfectly good appliances.

I love it! My Mary Kay lady has a kitchen full of the new slate color that is also a fingerprint free appliances, but I like this softer color. I have a mix of appliances and need 2 new ones, and would definitely consider this color to go with my wood paneled appliances! Tell them to launch it!

Well Dacor rolled out appliances at a show last year, promising “Rose Gold”, “Copper”, and “Gunmetal”, and had a display featuring either a Rose Gold or Copper stove.
At that time, there was also a press release on the website.
Eight months later, none of these colors are available yet, and they don’t mention it anywhere on their website anymore, that I can find.
So, I will believe it when I see it.
Whirlpool introduced some models of refrigerator in a deep red and navy blue a few years back and they disappeared fast. I just don’t think the masses are really ready for color, metallic or not, in the quantities that would warrant producing them, especially at the Whirlpool price point.
Dacor offers a few limited colors already (including Radiant Orchid?) in their color match program, but this is if you are paying $4500-11,000 for a stove.
If Dacor can’t manage to roll out a fairly custom color on a stove at a custom price, I am not holding my breath for color on appliances that people buy off the floor and get quick deliver on.

I think it’s pretty. It’s nice to see something different. I think they stole the color from Apple. Looks to me like the same as the gold iPhone.

Yes! I have a gold iphone!

I like the color but I can’t stand the too big, “look at me” hideous Whirlpool logo. It used to be smaller and more discreet. I cant stand it so much that when I remodeled my mom’s kitchen I chose the Amana side by side refrigerator, because the logo wasn’t there, and its a Whirlpool clone.

I would love this color appliances for my 1940s redo kitchen. I put a very light glaze on my linen colored cabinets and this would be perfect color for the appliances. Too bad the kitchen budget is all gone…lol
Steve French says
Absolutely beautiful. I am getting ready in the next few months to redo my kitchen and would choose this color in a heartbeat!

Yes, I love it ! My favorite is a counter-depth refrigerator. It would also depend
on the warranty of the computer circuit
boards inside the appliances. I prefer
sturdy, long lasting knobs over the soft
touch buttons. Or please design these soft touch buttons to be easily accessible & repaired on the circuit board.
So sad to have to trash an entire appliance over one push
button:(
