I did more online research and found that this chair is made and marketed by IMG Comfort. They are based in Norway, and their website explains the provenance of this cozy chair:

An instant classic since 1970 when acclaimed Norwegian designer Odd Knutsen introduced his Luna Chair. Knowing IMG’s passionate pursuit of perfection, Knutsen assigned our company the exclusive rights to manufacture and distribute his groundbreaking design worldwide. Underlying the Luna Chair’s unobtrusive design is a level of comfort rarely obtained by even the most expensive chairs. This you must experience first-hand to believe.

The Luna chair seems to be available via various retailers within the U.S. In my cursory research, Dania/Plummers/Scandinavian Designs appeared to have very competitive prices. I talked to a super helpful manager at Scandinavian Designs in Berkeley, Calif. She confirmed the prices I listed above. She said that these chairs are now made in Thailand, which is what has kept prices low. The leather is from Europe. She said they do not do online sales. However, if you call Berkeley, she said she could give you the shipping dimensions and if you take responsibility for the shipping, you could buy one that way. The chairs do require assembly, and she said it’s a pain. If you are buying for pickup at the store, they do the assembly for you in advance. Finally — they no longer do custom orders — there are a handful of colors of leather regularly available, and two wood colors.

I love the groove-tastic look of these chairs, but I also want to point out: They are not ginormous on-steroids — like so many American easy chairs today. They are just 29″ x 29″ x 29″ (I rounded), with a 22″ space for your tush to nestle into. This is a very small footprint — great for our smaller houses, perhaps?

There also is an ottoman.

On the Mauk’s of Jonesborough website, I found some additional options that you may be able to find if you want to shop around (and probably, pay more):

8 Chair Colors

Black

Bronze (light brown)

Cherry (maroon)

Off White

Havana (dark brown)

Latte (sand)

Red

5 Base Colors

Teak

Cherry

Natural

Black

Dark Brown

What terrific chairs! They deserve to be big sellers in today’s retro-crazed market! These are so pretty, I am using lots and lots of exclamation points!

The cabinet boxes are steel, as usual. But the door and drawer fronts seem to be crafted from wood strips, with a natural tone wood bar and wood handles at the top. A very earthy sort of 70s design concept. Hey, I also quite like the color of the countertops. Does anyone know what they would have called this color? Yes: You can mix plaids and flowers; the key, I think, is getting the “scale” and of course, the colors, right. This kitchen also does a fantastic job of using wallpaper to tie together the harvest gold appliances and the orange countertops. And even the kitchen cabinets have a yellow cast. I wish we could see the floor.

In addition to giving me permission to feature a few photos from the listing, he was super appreciative of efforts today to recognize and preserve the quality of midcentury houses. He said he’s been in the business 42 years, and in the Harrisburg, Pennsylvania area where he does business, he’s seeing the desire to maintain well-made original features of vintage houses “coming back around.” That’s great news!

This house, which is for sale for $150,000 in a suburb about 25 miles north of Harrisburg, is a one-owner home. It was built by a builder, for himself, Bill said, so you can imagine it’s well built. It’s also quite the groove palace — with a two-way fireplace, cool built-ins and… a kitchen of my dreams.

Thanks, Betsy, for the tip, and Bill, for being an appreciative agent.
