If you own a 20s, 30s or 40s home with deco or streamline style and also have lots of dough re mi, this bathroom suite from Lefroy Brooks would be fun to consider. The faucet style is called “1950 Belair,” but I say it’s is “streamlined” style, which is defined by the period when products were designed to look like fast-moving objects, like steam-engine trains. To be sure, this streamline style blurred over into the 50s. But this faucet is so distinctive, it looks like it is preparing for take off. The Lefroy Brooks sinks are also beautiful. Meanwhile – isn’t Kelly’s bathroom great? She has not moved in yet and gearing up to use tips from the site to clean up her tile. In particular look at the shower – real leaves are laminated into the plastic. And this is one of the first examples that I have seen of a full-sized walk-in shower. I like the way the floor pan is set – the way they handled the tile. Thanks for sharing, Kelly – we look forward to seeing more of your house.

What product can you use to clean vintage chrome so common in 40s 50s 60s and 70s kitchens and baths? One of our handiest readers – jsnugbear says:

I have found Noxon 7 metal polish works excellent to clean and shine old chrome and it puts a protective coating on it as well while cleaning. It comes in a green plastic bottle. I use it on all my chrome in my 50’s kitchen and furniture with metal leg caps..

Do you need a new faucet for your vintage bathroom sink? TodayI happily add a third alternative to my short list of recommendations. It’s this simple Gerber 4″ lav. Nice lines, nice faucet handles. Also a nice one here with fluted handles.  Hurray.

I was able to track down that particular faucet that you had on your site.  I contacted Gerber, and they gave me the part number.  I then tried to find it locally here in Abq, but that was a dead end.  So, I then resorted to shopping on the internets (d’oh), and found it here:

Most midcentury bathrooms have a sink with a 4″ faucet spread. How about using this Delta faucet with a nifty, pull-out shampoo sprayer? It reminds me of the 40s 50s and 60s when we all had “curlers in your hair, shame on you!” This faucet available from Locke Plumbing.
