The three most common questions I get via email, and sometimes in random places on the blog are:

Where can I find replacement bathroom tile?
Where can I sell, or buy, vintage sinks, toilets, tubs — and how about pricing?

These are all already answered within the blog, but here’s a round-up on where to find these answers… and answers to common questions, in general.

1. Where can I find replacement bathroom tile?

Answer: My best resource at this point is World of Tile in Springfield, New Jersey. I have multiple stories on World of Tile — read them all by clicking here.

On pricing: I give no advice and don’t plan to. It’s what the market will bear. You have to do your own research based on your own market dynamics.

Yo, a new entry for the Bathrooms/Toilets category — I don’t get to add many of those. The team at DEA Bathroom Machineries — aka deabath.com — continues to amaze me. Not only to they remain the go-to place for for repair and replacement parts for vintage Crane bathroom sinks including angled faucet designs… a great one-stop shop for chrome-plated lavatory legs… and a favorite place for products to clean old bathrooms… but now, they manufactured a large run of ceramic toilet bolt caps or covers in five vintage colors. Lordy, this is retro arcania… (which I very much appreciate, as proud owner of “inexhaustible enthusiasm for the minutiae of home décor“.) The toilet bolts are porcelain with an epoxy coating. They come in three shapes — round, round hex, and oval hex, and in the five following colors (shown left to right, above): Crane’s Citrus Yellow, Standard’s Ming Green, Standard’s Venetian Pink, Standard’s Regency Blue, and Standard’s Ivorie De Medici. A chrome-over-steel toilet paper roll holder

Where to find a new tissue roller for your old toilet paper holder? Reader Janet finds — and gives her quality stamp of approval to — this replacement part:

Old TP holders are often missing their rollers. The “chrome” ones in stores and online are almost always chrome over plastic. Yuck. I found a real chrome over steel replacement roller at the local Ferguson Enterprises plumbing supply house (where the professional plumbers go). They looked it up in their catalog and ordered it. Cost was well under $10. Part number appears to be CSI3CH and the description on the invoice says “contw paper roller plstc chr”, which implies plastic, but it isn’t plastic.

Readers, I typed the part number into google and came up with:: “Moen CSI3CH paper roll”. Can you bear how exciting this blog gets sometimes?
