Re-Store Re-Build and Habitat for Humanity storesI CAN’T BELIEVE that I’ve never done a real post about Re-Store, Re-Build and Habitat for Humanity — non-profits that accept material donations from demolition jobs and homeowner renovations and then re-sell them to fund their community work. These places are no question the #1 places to go if you’re looking for retro renovation materials. Heck yeah there is more…

1958 ge kitchen

Sumac Sue writes: Hi. Wanted to let you know that I saw a set of pink GE appliances at
the Lexington KY ReStore on Saturday (April 5). It was closing time,
and the store isn’t open on Sunday and Monday, so, they should still
be there on Tuesday! Pass the word along if you please.

The combo included a pink enamel-over-cast-iron double sink, a pink
wall oven, and a pink cook top or range (whatever you call it when it
sits in your counter). The cool thing about the cooktop is, it has
push button controls!

And the price for all three pieces together — $150! What a deal!

They need some scrubbing, of course. I don\’t know about how well they
work — didn’t have a chance to ask since it was closing time.

We have reached a point on our kitchen where we aren\’t in the frame
of mind to re-do things in order to work in these sweet appliances.
But I really think it would be fun to wash dishes in a pink sink!

Sure have enjoyed the site.

Judi (aka Sumac Sue)

Thanks Judi! And remember, all, there’s a set of pink cabinets for sale in Louisville, too. – retro-spotting courtesy my Mom, Fran.

vintage Beauty Craft cabinets

vintage Beauty Craft cabinetsvintage Beauty Craft cabinetsTo go with our Beauty Queen story above, Texas Julie sends these great photos of a Beauty Craft kitchen that she spotted at a Dallas salvage place a few months a go. Here’s what Julie writes:

Pam! Look at these great cabinets I saw a couple months ago at a salvage yard…need some work, but GREAT GREEN!! holy cow, i want them! $2500, in Dallas. probably long gone by now, but i had to share.

I love salvage yards…I hate to tell where these are in case I decide to go get ‘em! Ha. I tried to talk my husband into them…but so far, no dice. Pretty cheap price, huh? They are at DHW Salvage on Empire Central in Dallas. Or were, anyway.

Have fun!!! :D

Thanks, Julie. And notice, y’all, the trim at the top of the sink base. This appears to be just like the trim on the possible-Youngstowns listed on the Forum this weekend – the ones from Virginia Beach. Looks like those Youngstowns are Beauty Craft’s after all, and we now have a way to identify this brand, at least in this iteration.
