GE was a huge player in the postwar market for all kinds of home materials. In some respects, they should be posted along with the Big 4 above (Youngstown, Geneva, St. Charles & Republic), and maybe I'll put them there, ultimately.
They did appliances - of course, as well as cabinets and even laminate countertops, called Textolite.
They also owned or purchased Hotpoint at some point, which also marketed a popular line of steel kitchen cabinets. The two brands remained distinct, though.
GE steel cabinets had distinctive chrome handles, kind of built into the door fronts. They are very nice and take the modern look one more step along.
It appears that they made and marketed the steel cabinets out of Louisville, KY. They still have major operations there as a company, but of course are not making the cabinets any more.
