Hi to all! Just had to share this with everyone as it was a great find. I have a friend here in Arlington, VA who lives in a wonderful 1958-59 apartment building that still retains 98% of it's original exterior including the huge steel casement windows (yeaaahhhh!). Anyway, he has been keeping a lookout for me as far as the management tossing out the original metal kitchen cabinetry when people move out and they remodel. Got a call before 7 this morning, telling me to jump up, throw some clothes over my nightgown, and dash over to the loading ramp at the apartments because there was a bunch of pink metal kitchen cabinets waiting for the trash pick up. Well, that was enough to shock me into consciousness, so I did, indeed do as he said. Sure enough, I was able to grab up and save 3 large upper cabinets, 2 of the over the stove/fridge size, two large (2 drawer & 2 door) base cabinets, and one smaller single drawer/door base unit. They aren't perfect and someone had painted over a couple of the fronts with white paint, but they are sure enough originally pink. They aren't rusted out, but the de-installers weren't careful with the removal of two of the larger base cabinet drawers, bending them up some. I think they can be straighted and all the damage is in the very back where it's not going to be noticeable. (I was thinking that someone with a cook top stove could remove the drawer fronts, and attach them over the drawer holes and it would make a great cook top cabinet.) One upper cabinet has a door that is slightly out of alignment so that it doesn't close all the way, but I think it can be straightened. I haven't taken measurements or pics yet, but if anyone is in the N.VA/DC/MD area and would like these, I won't charge an arm and a leg for them. I am just tickled they didn't hit the landfill. I am still licking my chops for one of the original apartment sized stainless steel gas cook tops and wall ovens that those apartments have. My friend's place still has it's originals but he won't part with them. (Grrrrrr). I will keep a vigilant watch for more of these original cabinets. BTW, there are no labels or tags to show what brand they are. From the long rectangular handles I would say they might be GE, but unlike the GE's I've been seeing on here lately, these don't have the recess behind the handles for your fingers. These doors are just flat. Maybe a builder's grade GE??? I will post pics ASAP. Have a great day!

[attachment=576][attachment=577][attachment=576][attachment=574][attachment=575][attachment=577][attachment=578][attachment=579][attachment=580]Thanks for the congrats and the gold star! I consider this one of the best rescues, I have had so far. I have attached the pics I took of the cabinets. If anyone is interested in them as a whole set, or for specific cabinets needed, feel free to contact me via this thread and I will be happy to work with you. If I don't hear from anyone over the next several days, I might go ahead and post them on Craigslist and/or Ebay. If any one can ID the brand of these by the pics, I'd appreciate any info you can share. Thanks. Have a great day!

Retro-Robyn, I have several pieces and need more wall cabinets. I live in Maryland so I'm very close. Can't tell from the pictures it they blend in style but would love to see them.
