Hi! I am new to this web site and I am hooked! I currently own the 1959 profile bedroom set! My boyfriend hates it. Can you believe that? I bought the set about 8 years ago at a garage sale for $100. It was their grandmothers set. It even included the mattress. Which I tossed of course. The set includes a full size headboard, full dresser with unattached mirror, and only one side table. I wish I could find the second one somewhere. I look online for one ALL the time. It is not in great condition, scratches and a few cup marks. Would anyone suggest ever refinishing a beautiful piece like this??? I keep telling the boyfriend no and he says it looks like junk. I’d rather get rid of him- I love my furniture! If anyone has advise on refinishing let me know. Thanks.
Welcome, Jennifer. In general, I think that retaining the original finish is always smart – as the furniture increases in value over time, collectors will prefer the original finish. Suggestion: Drexel still exists as a company – why don’t you contact them and see what they advise regarding fixing imperfections from over the years?
