I live in Lincoln, NE, and just got a house that has a retractable dining room light. While replacing the bulbs, I fumbled and broke the glass diffuser. After trying several places, the only round diffusers available were 12in in diameter from Menards or Home Depot. I even looked online without much luck. Then I tried the Ecostores, a salvage building supply store, and found an 8in diffuser(the size I needed) as well as another model of the same retractable-light. The diffuser cost $1, and the extra light was on the free table.
