Another item of interest in my dad’s 1960′s rancher. I’m just discovering all of sorts of interesting things in my dad’s house.
First of all, there’s a pony-wall between the living and dining room. Each side of the pony wall has two decorative “support pillars”. It turns out that the pony-wall is solely decorative, so we are contemplating tearing down the wall.
Will removing the pony-wall affect the integrity of the house?

Also, the formica (laminate) on the kitchen counters is still in tact. it’s basically indestructible. I think that’s its the original builder installed counter top. It’s white with gold speckels.
How can I find out if this is the original counter-top?

I’m think that if it is, we will keep it and not replace with tiles/

      Any info is appreciated. Thanks!

Nelly, PLEASE Don’t rip out that countertop! It is the original and it is not made any longer. Please see the Pam’s link at the far right hand side of the page right near the bottom called “Speckled Laminate for Banjo’s”

I LOVE that laminate! We live in a ranch style home my great grandparents built in the 50s… the bar has turquoise laminate with gold specks. So cool!
