If you are renovating your bathroom and want to add an exhaust fan – consider this minimalistic, recessed fan/light combo from NuTone/Broan. When I updated my bathrooms, I added a light/fan combination above each tub. It’s really nice to have light directly in that area, and the fan works just fine from that location as the bathrooms are quite small. Heck yeah there is more…

When I visited Rejuvenation in Portland, I saw this wonderful early 20th century reproduction sink for sale. I am not sure of the exact timeline for sinks like this. They were originally porcelain enamel on cast iron — and I would guess they spanned the 1910s through the 1940s. These reproductions — from St. Thomas Creations — are made of vitreous china. Even so – the sink looks like the real deal – gorgeous – and would be a wonderful choice for a pre-war retro renovation bathroom – for a bungalow, four-square or romantic revival bathroom, for example.

Lots of treasures awaited my return home yesterday… An ebay find which I’ll show soon… Barkcloth samples from Full Swing Textiles… and the best of all: Two rolls of vintage pink wallpaper from reader NYC Dorothy. She has contributed it to our community – so that it can savored for all. You see, these are the two wallpapers that hung in her mother’s kitchen and bathroom – and she wanted them to go to a good home. Dorothy, I promise you, they are in the right place – in front of many thousands of readers who treasure these memories of the homes our own families built in postwar America. Many thanks, indeed!
Oh, and readers… just to ensure you are triply amazed: Did I mention that both of these wallpapers are on a totally high-quality (not brittle) vinyl…. and that they have gold flecks and streaks throughout? Totally swoonable.
Click through for more delightful images of these two great vintage wallpapers…. Heck yeah there is more…

Sometimes I wonder about ebay. That fun little slideshow widget now seems broken, and I have a bunch of fun stuff to show off! Alas. But I really want to showcase this wonderful pink, vintage Borg bathroom scale – listed by CogswellRetro – none other than our “Atomic Bowlers” Dave and Laura. I understand they are trying to clean out their excess. They have lots of fun stuff. LOVE this scale! Great lines, and it looks to be in great shape. Remember, though, readers – NEVER ever stand on these things!

Last week we looked at Cindy’s beautiful Holyoke, Mass., home – photos I took last summer. Today – we get to see the updates that she made to her bathroom vanity and tile floor and shower over the winter – she replaced the laminate on the bathroom vanity in a lighter ‘beigewood” shade, and also retiled her floor and shower stall. Cindy’s updates are incredibly well done – she has a great eye for detail and I know that she labored over each little decision…. Great inspiration and ideas, I am sure, to many retro renovators looking for a way to update their tired bathroom vanities, in particular.

Reader Jennifer spotted this avocado bathroom over on Apartment Therapy. The reader is asking what she should do with it. I sense…revulsion. What do you think, Retro Renovation readers? Should this avocado bathroom be saved? Leave your comment here – or over on the post at Apartment Therapy. P.S. I bet you know what I think!

Reader Nathan ordered three of these Gerber 4″ lavatory faucets, which I spotted for their simple retro style. He has installed them – and says they are great with quality that is “superb….better than most.” Thanks, Nathan, for the report from the front lines of retro renovation!
