READER STEPHANIE sent in photos of her wonderful vintage stove — an O’Keefe and Merritt newly restored by Antique Stove Heaven. Doesn’t it look great with her vintage chrome crackle ice vinyl and laminate dinette. I just wanna pull up a chair and have a cuppa with her right this very minute.

REMEMBER the recent
1964 split level time capsule, captured at an estate sale in progress? In addition to the
awesome blue bathroom, there was a gray half-bath in great condition, too. I have a real thing for laminate vanities….maybe because they can be replicated relatively easily, and because they can give you lots of retro bang for not outrageous bucks. (Case in point:
Cindy’s bathroom.) This gray vanity is wonderful. And, notice the built-in drawers, also in laminate, in the wall opposite.
Formica’s Dunewood looks like it might be close-enough match, Cindy used Wilsonart beigewood. Check the other makers, too. One more slide show from this vintage split level house yet to come. Includes: bomb shelter.

Last week we looked at Cindy’s beautiful Holyoke, Mass., home – photos I took last summer. Today – we get to see the updates that she made to her bathroom vanity and tile floor and shower over the winter – she replaced the laminate on the bathroom vanity in a lighter ‘beigewood” shade, and also retiled her floor and shower stall. Cindy’s updates are incredibly well done – she has a great eye for detail and I know that she labored over each little decision…. Great inspiration and ideas, I am sure, to many retro renovators looking for a way to update their tired bathroom vanities, in particular.
